Weekly Battle Challenge! FLYING SQUID

avatar

Here come another week of battle challenge. And the weekly topic is FLYING SQUID. Water is one of favorite deck, but Flying Squid wasn't my favorite pick, because usually I will prefer to play with magic + range hybrid composition when using water element. But Flying Squid will always be my choice if that's some match I choose to use water and I think more physical attack is in need. No further ado, let's start!

Lir Deepswimmer

No doutb Lir Deepswimmer is a very good choice for rule with LOST MAGIC match. Without magic allowed, the chances of opponent would pick at least 2 range cards is very high, both RETURN FIRE and BLIND effect is very effective against range monster. And the ability of +2 Armor guarantee all allied can tank better since magic which pierce through the armor is prohibited!!
MONSTER
Diemonshark_lv1.png

1st Position - Diemonshark

Diemonshark become one of the best physical damage tanker in water element since the chaos pack release, 6 Armor + 7 HP + 4 Speed making him a total beast as tanker!! Eventhough imo TRAMPLE isn't very helpful since some luck is require for it to take effect, but the composition of states it provides as a tanker is too good to be ignore.

2nd Position - Flying Squid

Protagonist of the week! As a melee monster, Flying Squid wasn't very tankful because it has no armor, but 8 HP wasn't very bad either. But Flying Squid found his place with the REACH ability, where he could very well support the front-liner with his decent attack.
Deeplurker_lv3_gold.png

3rd Position - Deeplurker

One of favorite card in water element, usually card with OPPORTUNITY ability come with very low attack, but Deeplurker is exceptional, it came with 3 attack! It's not an exceptional high attack, but OPPORTUNITY was mean to aim the lowest HP monster at opponent team, which making it more than enough.
Sand Worm_lv3.png

4th Position - Sand Worm

Sand worm is one of my favorite natural element card. Sand Worm come with very high attack, and with the combination of SNEAK ability it always able to take out enemy in last position pretty quick, although it's quite frustrated sometimes because of the continuously miss due by the low speed.
Axemaster_lv1.png

5th Position - Axemaster

A must have card for me during match of using water element. I always prefer DOUBLE STRIKE over any higher attack card, because it stand better chance of taking out opponent armor or divine shield and dealing damage to the HP at the same turn.
Cornealus_lv1.png

Last Position - Cornealus

The best final position tanker imo. Come with 12 HP and HEAL which make him able to tank the SNEAK damage longer than any other monster while at same time able to deal decent damage to enemy.

BATTLE REPLAY

EPILOGUE

Did your strategy work?
What will you try differently next time?

My strategy work extremely well this turn, which lead me to beat opponent team of lv2 to 5 with my team of level 1 to 3. Opponent did make use of 3 range card as what I'm expecting, which eventually being counter very well with Lir Deepswimmer ability. Both of the last 2 attacker in enemy team come with very high attack and HP, which is difficult to beat by merely depending on RETURN FIRE, but with the combination of RETURN FIRE + Deeplurker and Sand Worm, I manage to take them out pretty quick. And Cornealus were able to tank opponent's Sand Worm attack without taking any HP damage, thanks to BLIND effect!

Can't really think a better strategy with the cards I have in hand, guess I couldn't ask for more as I already beating higher level opponent.

Do you like FLYING SQUID?
Why or why not?

Wouldn't say I like FLYING SQUID very much, but I did pick him whenever I think I need physical damage dealer while playing water element. I would said if without the ability REACH, FLYING SQUID would be pretty weak as a melee, yes it did has decent attack, but no armor, moderate speed, just too weak to act as a tanker. But with the ability REACH, it cover his weakness as weak tank and able to hide at 2nd position to support the frontliner with his decent attack.
