Melee vs Magic on Equal Health Ruleset Battle | Splinterlans Weekly Socmed Challenge

Hello guys, welcome back to Ramadhanight's Hive Blog on Splinterlands Weekly Socmed Challenge's Session. Today i would like to share my tought about playing on equal health ruleset. This ruleset is interesting because every monster have same health. Magic and Melee are favourite because range monster cannot attack from front position (except with RW earth summoner). Which one would you choose, melee or magic ?

Battle Ruleset and Why You Should Pay Attention on It

Battle ruleset are a very important aspect on splinterlands battle. It could give monster extra ability but could disable some other ability as well. Battle ruleset often give some monster advantage and some other disadvantage as well. Battle ruleset could even banned some monster ! Here is some ruleset that i captured from Splinterlands Website

You could see the complete list on the link above, but i don't see the new ruleset there, which could give all monster thorn, reflect shield, and back arrow ability. They were all new but very important ruleset to understand, because if not, you might get your monster killed themselves after their own attack.

Deep understanding of the ruleset is a key factor to win the game. Even with lower level monster, you could win the game if you could utilize the ruleset better than your opponent.

Equal Health Ruleset

Now let's talk about equal health ruleset, this ruleset makes all monster are started with the same health based on the highest health in either team. So if there is one monster on any side with 14 health that are the most on the battle, all monster would have 14 health at the start of the battle. The buff and debuffs then applied after all monster are on equal health. This is mean high health monster could be a backfire, except you are ready to fight against high health monster, and you should always ready to fight against high health monster on this ruleset, except if both teams are using low health monster.

Who would rise on this ruleset ?
Many monster will have a better performance on this ruleset:
1. Monster with heal ability (especially that having attack as well). On equal health, monster are often having high health and heal ability would be usefull to help the team survive longer. Higher health mean more heal are applied, and with the attack that are supported by summoner, healer could be a very usefull hitter as well. More benefit !
2. Monster with very high attack or armor and good ability but having low health. You might find some monster such as exploded dwarf, every-hungry skull, vampire, etc that are having very high damage, very high armor, and good ability but are having very very low health (some of them are having just 1 health). This ruleset is their golden chance to show what they could ! Now health are no longer the problem, they could take action without any fear of died by a tickle !
3. Monster with life leech ability. Often started with low health, monster with life leech ability are having the ability to bulk their health with every attack they are succesfully landed. With equal health ruleset, their HP started with the same highest health monster on the battle field then could bulk into even higher !
4. Monster with double attack ability. With the everyone are having same health, monster with double attack ability (especially with summoner buff) are often having the highest damage to eliminate enemies !
5. Monster with blast ability. Yap, blast ability could help monster to deal damage not just to the target monster, but also monster that are near to them. This way you could eliminate all monster faster.

What strategy should considered ?
Since everyone are having same health, it's very important to focus your damage to a certain monster rather than split it, because ability such as snipe and sneak won't do anything if you just put 1 or 2 monster with those ability on the battlefield. But be carefull if you want to focus on eliminating the front monster because this way enemies could put monster with shield or void ability with help of support that could be a problem for you to eliminate even just 1 enemies.

Why this would be a battle between melee and magic ? Which is Better ?
This is the point that i put on my cover, melee or magic ? As everyone are having same health, melee and magic are the best choice except when range monster could attack from front position. This is because magic could attack from anywhere and melee monster with help of opportunity and sneak could attack from any position as well, and there is reach ability that could help them to attack from 2nd position. And the big difference between those melee monster that could attack from back position with range monster is when they are on front position. The melee could attack from front while the range just there to watch the match (except they could attack from front). Melee monster are having advantage on this battle because many of them are having double attack ability. This mean they could land 2 damage at 1 turn and this could be a big difference for equal health ability which need high damage per turn to eliminate enemies. Magic monster on the other side are having advantage on having heal ability, and never missed (except with phase ability). This mean you need to makes sure enemies attack your tank and they are tough enough to get the heal, or you could as well tried to makes enemies with melee attack to having many missed attack with your high speed and flying ability (most dragon monster are having it) and it would be a problem for melee monster with land damage no matter how many attack they could land on one turn.

(Bonus) My battle replay

Now let's see the example of the battle with equal health ruleset. This battle is what i faced on wild silver league

My enemy is using range squad with 1 healer from water element while my teams are consist of Agor longtail, Carnage Titan, and 4 sneak monster. On 1st round, all buff are activated. My sneak squad with 2 double attacks are able to eliminate enemies backline that got resurrected and eliminated once again. My tank able to survive thanks to void armor ability.

On 2nd Round, my tank got eliminated, as well enemies 5th monster. Enemies tank are standstill because of the heal that help him to regain health.

On 3rd round, enemies healer and their tank is eliminated. It's 5 vs 2 now !

On 4th round, my 2nd monster is eliminated as well enemies backline. Now he only got chaos dragon upfront.
