Guild Brawls With Pizza 2 - Good Cards In My 4th Gladius Case!

avatar

Just completed the 6th brawl with my awesome guild, which is none other than Pizza 2 The Deep Dish!

  • Fun In The Discord Chats

Really appreciated the interaction in the Discord chats within the Pizza guilds. During the preparation phase, there's a lot of information sharing and discussion on who to fill each fray. During the brawls, there were reminders to members to complete their brawl battles. And after the brawls, there were celebratory messages and some members (including me) would write about our experience in the brawls. Aside from brawls, I thought the donations were also very well organised and tabulated, with lucky draws to incentivise donors as well.

  • Trying Out A New Fray...And How All Went Wrong...

The choice of fray this time was quite dramatic. I was practically left with Fray 13, i.e. 5/4/3/2 GF when it came to my turn to join. Of course, this was way beyond my league but I thought it's the team effort that mattered and I would just contribute to the best of my abilities, submit my teams and hopefully some opponents flee and I get some free wins. Then one of the members was asked to sit out because of a no-show in the previous brawl and Fray 1 was freed out.

Logically, it was a no-brainer to join that fray since I am using Level 1 cards. I thought I would be able to get some good amount of wins for the guild, but I was so wrong. In the end, I was humbled by so many strong cards. I gave my best but a small part of me still felt that I left my guild down.

  • We Got 2nd!

So for the final result, we finished 2nd out of 10 guilds and got a whooping 877 Merits, which was a great result in my view, especially after my dismal performance.

Individually, I had 8 fights this time and I managed 3 wins, finishing a lowly 11th within the guild. No surprise of course. Hopefully I can do better the next brawl.

Let's jump into the battles!

Battle 1 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Isgard Vorst

I am usually confident about my Water lineups with Djinn Oshannus around. Isgard Vorst slotted in nicely as a "Deeplurker" equivalent. 3 activations of Bloodlust this time but it was not really needed as it was an easy win to kick off the brawl.

Battle 2 - WIN

Gladius Card Used: Isgard Vorst

Djinn Oshannus and Isgard Vorst partnered again to secure another comfortable victory. My opponent used the same Gladius card as well but they had more small mana cards and it was easy for me to get Bloodlust up and running. Of course, Djinn Oshannus as a high speed tank made it even more difficult for my opponent.

Battle 3 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Liza Fox

I tried out a new Gladius card but the downside of a Ranged card is that it cannot attack in the first position, so any high damage accumulated from Bloodlust is quite useless. Legionnaire Alvar held on the attacks for the longest time but my opponent had more attack firepower.

Battle 4 - WIN

Opponent fled!

Battle 5 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Orella Abadon

My entire Melee lineup was countered by their summoner Zintar Mortalis, Disintegrator and Harklaw. Even my 3 Sneak cards were countered by their Cursed Windeku's Thorns. Nonetheless, my team gave it their all and only lost after 12 rounds.

Battle 6 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Witch Of Warwick

I went into this battle feeling confident because Witch Of Warwick definitely suited an Equaliser battle, and I was still feeling confident when I saw the summoner matchups because my Thaddius Brood was a counter to Earth's magic. However, Quora Towershead was too powerful. At one point, Witch Of Warwick had 25 HP but it was still not enough.

Battle 7 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Witch Of Warwick

My Snipe strategy started well but was eventually outdone by my opponent's Sneak.

Battle 8 - LOSE

Gladius Card Used: Palidon Rakk

I picked a Gladius card for tank and hoping that I will get some Bloodlust but my opponent's summoner was just too much to handle. With all the boosts, my opponent was effectively dealing 20 damage per round and my entire team and swiped out before I could do any significant damage. Game over in 3 rounds.

So that sums up my 8 battles for this brawl! Will try to do better next brawl!

Review Of Gladius Cards

Since I am able to use Gladius cards now, I thought I should review selected cards that helped me win in the brawls. However, given my performance this round, I thought I would post about the opening of my 4th Gladius case!

Managed to get 1 Epic, 1 Rare and 3 Commons, and I think that is pretty good!!! That's an additional 270 CP. Very happy with these cards as 4 of them are new and there is a good mix and high and low mana cards. No doubt, both the Epic and Rare cards look extremely strong based on first impression.

Of course, please let me know if you have any tips in using these cards too as I am keen to learn and improve too!

Novice is deceptively hard, so many people join those with a good amount of legendary and epics from all sets, 3 wins is good!
