In our previous post(s) about Rebellion we detailed the price of Rebellion Booster Packs when purchased directly from the Splinterlands in game marketplace/shop. However did you know that you can also purchase Rebellion Packs on multiple DEX's located here on the HIVE Blockchain (Hive-Engine/TribalDex ect.) Lets head on over to these secondary markets and take a look at the current (10/27/2023) listed price. Before we do that let me say that boosters purchased on secondary markets are not sold by the Splinterlands company but by investors/players of the game known as Splinterlands. Rebellion Booster Packs contain five NFT's with one guaranteed to be a rare or better.

Splinterlands is a play2earn game built on the Hive Network. The game itself utilizes NFT's for game play. These NFT's can be won in battle and/or purchased from the official Splinterlands marketplace or many other secondary markets. Game play rewards players with cryptocurrency and in game assets.

Recent REBELLION Buy/Sell Orders

As we can see in the above screenshot; Rebellion booster packs purchased on the HIVE DEX's will cost anywhere from 8.5 to 8.83 HIVE. Put in USD: (at current time) that is a value of $2.77 to $2.88. Lets compare that to what one might pay when purchasing directly from Splinterlands. Base value of a Rebellion Booster Pack from Splinterlands is $5 USD. If one was going the route of spending the most for ease of access ($5) the $2.88 USD alternative looks like an absolute deal. However there are other factors to consider. For example if you have VOUCHERS one could get up to a 20% discount on Rebellion Booster Packs that are purchased directly from the Splinterlands Shop section. If you don't have VOUCHERS they to can be purchased on the secondary markets (The same secondary markets in which you can find boosters for sale). The cost of VOUCHERS is just pennies each. In fact in today's market a VOUCHER will only cost your roughly $0.03 USD. This means Five Vouchers will cost just $0.15 USD and will gross you $1.00 USD in savings.

Keep in mind that Packs on secondary markets do not offer any discount. The cost of Packs shown on secondary markets is what you pay and there is no direct way to lower that price. There are other factors to consider as well such as bulk buy bonuses that Splinterlands offers for pack purchases of 100 or more vs. no bonuses on secondary market purchases. Should we be purchasing from secondary markets or directly from Splinterlands? What is the better deal? I don't have an answer to that as it depends on your goals and personal financial situation. For me personally if (at todays prices) I wanted to purchase just a pack or two and wanted the most immediate cost efficient way to do so secondary markets are the obvious choice. If I wanted the most packs I could get my hands on without any other considerations; secondary markets here I come. However if I wanted a more mid to long term investment with chances at future airdrops/rewards for my purchase I would purchase directly from Splinterlands.
