What Is SPS?

SPS is the governance token for the game known as Splinterlands.

What Is Splinterlands?

Splinterlands is a digital card game created by @aggroed and @yabapmatt. Game play that utilizes in game NFTs is ongoing and has prizes being offered that have real monetary value. You can get started with investing in or playing Splinterlands by clicking here.

This 2.2 Million (USD) SPS sale was first announced during Splinterlands official AMA (Ask Me Anything). The AMA took place in the Splinterlands discord. The founders and Splinterlands team use the AMA as a way to address any questions or concerns the gamers and investors of Splinterlands may have. Was this purchase from an outside investor? Was it from someone already in the Splinterlands community? The truth, no-one knows for sure but it sure is nice seeing that there are investors and gamers out there that see so much value in SPS and Splinterlands in general that they decide to invest TWO MILLION+ USD in the games assets. That's exciting... although I guess we should be a little worried about what are they intending to do with all that SPS? What might they vote for when governance is available... will they dump on the market at some point? Not that there's anything we can really do about it...

All good points but I suspect if all goes well a 2 million SPS dump won't hurt the price for long. Its likely an investor not a gamer. If a gamer....... they might do the same with Chaos Legion boosters (Buy a million+).

Everything is coming up roses for Splinterlandians! All the sneak peak artwork looks great. It would be kind of cool to get one of those new NFTs. Did @aggroed mention in the AMA if the NFTs that you purchase with SPT will count toward SPS airdrop points?

I did listen to the AMA but there was allot of information to unpack. I don't recall him mentioning that they count towards airdrop points. I do recall him saying the SPT NFT's will have no utility in game but then left a little hope that some day they "might".

Thanks, I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed it. I also read a couple of summations of the AMA and neither one mentioned NFTs counting towards airdrop points. I may hold off on spending my SPT on NFTs for a while. Besides all my SPT is staked and would take weeks to power down enough to buy one of them.

Imagine if Justin Sun is the person who bought the 2.2 million dollars worth of SPS. In any case its a lot more than I have, around $400 worth.
