Splinterlands: Highest USD Valued Cards (Core Sets)

I haven't been that active within the Splinterverse over the past weeks/months. Its been even longer since I gave the card (nft) market a once-over. Even as I type this I have yet to check market prices so I'll be finding out which cards cost the most in USD as I create this blog post. For this installment I'm going to look at the highest listed price of a card from each core set that is a gold foil. Without looking I suspect that the highest valued cards in each set will end up being a GFL. Now lets take a look.

Alpha

Above you will see the six most expensive purchasable ALPHA cards. ALPHA is by far the smallest core set within the Splinterlands game and is also the set that started it all. Currently the most expensive ALPHA card is the GFL Frost Giant which is listed for a staggering $22,000 USD. The remainder shown in the screenshot are listed from $1500-4000 USD.

BETA

Next we have the BETA cards (which are a print of ALPHA cards + introduced us to LEGENDARY SUMMONERS + NEUTRAL Monsters). The BETA card with the highest USD asking price is HYDRA which currently (07/11/2023) carries a price tag of $10,000 USD. The Elemental Phoenix is priced around the same at $9,950 USD. The remainder shown in the above screenshot are listed from anywhere between $4,100- $7,500 USD.

UNTAMED

UNTAMED is next on our list. Its no surprise to me that BYZANTINE KITTY is at the forefront of the list. If you want to snag one of these for your collection its going to cost you $5,500 USD to do so. The remainder shown in the screen shot range from a price of $2,999 USD - $1,999 USD.

CHAOS LEGION

Here is where we see a significant drop in card USD values. The highest costing card in the CHAOS LEGION set is LILY SHELDPAW. You can pick one up for the affordable price of $98.01 USD. The remainder seen in the screen shot can be purchased for $89 USD - $72 USD. Is this opportunity knocking or is CHAOS the set that always will be the more affordable and wallet friendly set (Great for newbies just joining the game).

RentMoney's Thoughts:

As shown the screenshots provide price sources for the top six cards as determined by USD. As I predicted (wasn't much of a prediction) the highest listed card for sale in each CORE set was a GFL. Initially I was a little surprised that only one ALPHA GFL made it in the top six of the ALPHA set but upon further investagation; the Frost Giant was/is the only ALPHA GFL listed on the market for sale at current time. As for BETA the top card was the HYDRA which is a highly sought after Legendary Neutral GFL and a great card to have in ones collection (no suprises that it was first on the list). There were also no surprises from the UNTAMED set. KITTY is an awesome card so seeing it at the number one spot in USD value for the UNTAMED NFT Set was expected. HOWEVER, I am surprised that the USD value of CHAOS Legion cards aren't a little higher than displayed. The set is big compared to previous sets but considering (in this post) we are talking Gold Cards there still isn't (IMO) an over abundance of CHAOS LEGION GFL's (GFL supply run from 510-1142 for each card in the CHAOS LEGION SET).

Those prices are crazy. But the number of cards is so low. The GFL Frost Giant alpha shows 17 cards in existence according to peakmonsters. Thats scarcity. Priced as a real investment opportunity not relative to value in game. Most lower priced cards pricing can pretty directly be correlated to how valuable it is on the battlefield. It will be interesting to see how card farming on land will move valuations around. At least for the lower priced cards.

Indeed, I'm also looking forward to seeing the outcome.

A lot of people stopped playing it, some people stopped playing it because of the price, and later on, the way we see his team working so hard and the way we Noticed that today we have seen a good increase in the price, so that's a very good thing, you have a lot of good cards, prices will go up in the near future.

That makes sense. I'm sure that those cards will be a very good one but I heard that they are scarece and rare ro find which means that not everyone can have it...

Yes, some of the cards displayed are very rare which reflects in their price.

I had a few beta gold cards in my collection but sold them to buy regular foil cards to increase the battle strength of my card collection.
I was always focused on the battle utility of a card.
Since the introduction of the untamed and chaos collections, beta and alpha cards have lost much of the battle utility they had before and now have market values very much related to the number of cards in circulation and not to their actual battle utility, which has decreased compared to the past.
It will be very interesting to see how card prices will vary with the start of phase 1.5 of lands

I can remember their (Gold Cards) USD value jumping significantly after collection power was first introduced (sometime during BETA). It was tempting to sell them to get a jump on the regular collection. I haven't checked the tournament structure in some months but I think Splinterlands is making a big blunder with not having Alpha+Beta tournaments. That alone would bring some much needed utility to the OG collection. I been wanting to reposition for a while now but I can't find a good spot to do so. When staking cards on land is a thing, that might provide the opening I been waiting for.

Thanks for sharing! - @lenonmc21

It is incredible the price difference between editions, and also the price of the "Chaos Legion" cards, I guess that, when they are finished to be distributed in the rewards, we could see a change in the prices. Good post.

Its certainly interesting to view the prices/ price difference between sets. Chaos Legion is an outlier for sure.
