Splinterlands Battle Mage Challenge: Rise of the Commons!

This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Rise of the Commons in which only common and rare monsters may be used in battle!

However, and this may be crucial, summoners are NOT affected by this rule!

Rise of the Commons general strategy....

Well there's not too much to say, other than opt for the best splinter possible that has the best mixture of common and rare cards, although I am not 100% sure what that is, it most defo ISN'T the dragon splinter!

Earth springs to mind for some reason, plenty good common cards in there such as Goblin Psychic and the ever awesome Flesh Golem if yer playing in Wild!

Rise of the Commons battle exemplar

The battle below shows a low mana battle in which I win by a relatively low margin!

Mana and ruleset:

  • Mana - 16
  • Ruleset - rise of the commons only!

Summoner - Tarza

  • Zenith Monk - a nice low mana tank
  • Ant Miners - a nice second for low mana battles
  • Serpentine Spy - opportunity!
  • Elven Cutthroat - sneak!
  • Chicken - Sneak and opportunity soak!

The battle...

  • round 1 - BOOM! Straight off the back I opportunity my opponent's Ooze, but he returns the favour with a sneak attack which takes out my chicken! I get lucky with a couple of missed sneak attacks on the cut throat, speed baby, speed!
  • round 2 - I take out the Kobold Miner immediately followed by the Radiated Scorcher, Nice! But I lose my Serpentine Spy.
  • Round 3 - I immediately return the favour and sneak kill my opponent's spy. And it's all over, I finish off my opponent!

Final battle analysis

I think I may have got lucky with two missed sneak attacks, showing the advantage of my playing a decent SPEED card, and also my healing monk in the front made a difference.

By the time the Teynill Striker was in tank, he was never going to take out a healing front card before I finished him off!

Rise of the Commons final thoughts...

Hmmm, Fire seems to work!

It's a good time, the prices are low and one can buy the good cards one likes which then one can win more games.
