# Second season in the books! ~ My "Free2play" Splinterlands journey - Splinter Stats Season 46 Report Card

My o my, what a season it's been and to think this was only my first COMPLETE season I did in Splinterlands as I started somewhere in the middle of the earlier season. For this reason I've decided to write a separate post focusing more on the narrative and all the things that happened during those two weeks (a bit longer actually, it was a long season or so I've been told :-p) and focus on looking at the stats and quickly summarize the findings on the aspects of the report here.

I will put a reference up once I'm done writing that but let's dive into the numbers for now:

How was my performance this season? To be honest, I'm quite content! As you can see I did quite a lot of battling to the point I had to force myself to take a break and let my DEC capture rate recover a bit. Even though I'm still learning and experimenting a lot my win ratio for ranked has improved a lot since last time. At least it's a bove 1 now. Tournament ratio is a bit lower but I think I've literally joined everything I could and might have missed a few of the "No loss sit and go" tourney setups. sometimes because I didn't expect it to start so early.

Key highlights for me performance wise: ranking shared 1st place in the Kobold mining tourney and placing 8th in the up your game tournament (shout out to @carrieallen for making this possible and guiding us through this and all the amazing rewards!)

No more near 50% Pyre this time, still like to use fire but equally enjoyed exploring earth, life and water. Especially the healing capabilities of these splinters have drawn my interest :-)

Where last time living lava had a whooping 40%fielded he's gone down to a healthy near 10%, rented a furious chicken (and later got one from Carrie :-)) and it takes the top spot naturally! Been lpaying around with Cornealus a LOT! Even used it in battles where I knew he couldn't do damage in the front tank spot but just soak up all the damage and stay alive, please let me know if this is considered unwanted trolling, because yeah it sometimes felt that way.. sorry! Other cards I used quite often are healers and the shield bearer as a great distraction to safeguard all the rest of the team.

Last season I didn't have a very good sample of different rulesets as I played in bronze 3 for the better part of that season. With this season hitting silver quite early and doing a lot of battles here and in the tournaments I have a more even spread and can see there are some rulesets I prefer or at least do better in.

I seem to have no problem when magic is lost or we are getting up close and personal, for both rulesets I think I used malric or Daria to boost he melee and go for an almost exclusively melee team.

Conversely I struggled in taking sides and rise of the commons, this makes total sense as I rented many neutral legendaries and favor them a lot now.. so missing those makes it quite hard to still do well. Something I have to work on..

This is actually quite funny, got lucky with a gold foil Nightmare during one of my first few daily quests and this season I got one more gold foil and guess what, exact same card xD. Not sure if I will combine them, sell one or rent one out. Think I'll try and gain some more experience in the game deciding on this one.

Also got one epic in the final season rewards again, pretty cool card with twin strike: axemaster! Already used it a few times and that skill can be a game changer, will experiment with it more next season :-)

Total ranked rewards dec value of 4350 is much more than last season but kind of unfair to compare since it wasn't a whole season last time. As I'm writing this the estimated value of my collection is $ 16.28 according to peakmonsters.com (market prices) that alone is more than I paid for the spellbook and untamed pack I bought when I started, I'll try to include this part in my reports from now on to have an idea how my collection grows in value over time. Let's include the burn rate too as this is a more stable value that is also used to measure your power : 3,565 DEC.

All in all I really had a blast again this season and was able to get some nice rewards and started building my deck a little with a lot of help from rentals, fellow guild members and last but not least @khazrakh who made me aware of the game in the first place and was kind enough to delegate me some really useful cards, really appreciated and it helps me a ton :-)

Reason I mentioned this is my "free2play" journey is that I've decided to try and progress without buying anything with fiat or other crypto holdings, I'm keeping those separate. Another reason is that I've used money I've earned by playing a different game and from coinbase earn to buy the initial summoner spellbook and one pack, but more on that in a different post. You could say I'm going hardcore mode it will be a tough grind but I kind of like a challenge, I played Demon's Souls after all!

Another season is waiting and I'm gonna do my best to bring even more news to the next report, although I realize that might get harder each season but one can try :-p
