Registering an account is free, and all you need is an email address. However, in order to receive cards for battle rewards or to rent or buy and sell cards, you must purchase SpellBooks, so it's kind of mandatory to pay $10 worth of virtual currency to purchase them after all.
Oh yes, this is also the time to give your account an arbitrary name.

アカウントの登録は無料で、メールアドレスさえあれば登録可能です。しかし、バトル報酬でカードを受け取ったり、カードのレンタルや売買をするためにはSpellBookの購入が必須なので、結局$10相当の仮想通貨を払って購入が必須みたいなもんですね。
そうそう、アカウントに任意の名前を付けるのもこの時ですね。
