Shauner's 43rd Splinterlands Brawl Report - PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish Guild
PIZZA 2 Guild Member Performance
I won 5 out of my 6 battles in this brawl and that landed me in 4th place within the guild.
PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish Results
We earned 17 crowns and 915 merits for finishing in 1st place in this brawl. This is a great reward amount, especially considering that we actually tied for 1st place with 35 wins and 105 total points. The only differentiating factor was that we had 4 fewer losses than the other guild.
Unfortunately, we had one member who failed to enter any teams for their battles so that likely cost us a true 1st place finish with more wins than the second place guild.
The guild that we were battling with at the top of the ranking was significantly higher ranked than we are, with a guild rank of #185. So this was a stellar performance against a tough opponent.
My 5-1 record for this brawl was the result of five full battles with one of my opponents fleeing. As I've written before, my goal is to win against the top ranked guild opponent in my battles and I succeeded in that in this brawl by winning against the much higher ranked Great Australian Guild.
Battle #2 - Win
This battle is against the second place guild in this brawl. The magic reflect buff for a battle is not very common at all so I struggled with quickly putting together a strategy for this one.
I hesitated to put a magic attack card in play because of the reflect buff, but decided that the Quora card paired with Llama might be able to overcome that magic reflect, especially with the melee attack that she also has.
My opponent went with a melee attack strategy that my first card, Venari Knifer will help deal with using his thorns. This strategy actually worked even better than I expected with the thorns doing a lot of heavy lifting to eliminate my opponent. The Quora gladiator card didn't even get a chance to take the first position and benefit from the Last Stand buff from the Llama summoner.
Battle #3 - Loss
After just coming off a battle with a magic reflect buff, I ended up choosing a magic reflect summoner strategy in this battle. With the blast ability and close range buffs in play I decided to focus my strategy on range attack and the magic reflect. When I saw that my opponent put in play almost entirely magic attack, I was pleased.
Unfortunately, the magic reflect wasn't enough to overcome my opponent's health stats. In hindsight, I probably needed some monsters with higher health stats so that I could have worn down the two cards they had with 8 health whereas most of mine were much lower health.
Battle #6 - Win
Here's a battle that I was able to put some of my favorite cards and strategies to use. There was a poison buff in play so I had to make sure that I had high health or regeneration abilities. For that reason, I deployed both the Quora and Kron cards as well as a Goblin Psychic. I went with an aggressive health regeneration strategy here. Top it off with the Llama summoner and I should be pretty strong going into this battle.
Without any health regeneration on my opponent's side, it didn't take long for them to be taken out one by one with the poison effect.
I'm quite happy with my performance in this brawl. The one loss I had could have been overcome with a slight tweak in strategy, but overall I can't be mad about our guild taking 1st place!
What is the @hive.pizza #BrawlReport?
*Starting with the brawl that just ended, I've invited/asked members of the #HivePizza guild to publish a #BrawlReport, breaking down their highs & lows, where they need help, questions they have, strategies they love, and so on. The idea is to help us all reflect a bit, learn a bit, share a bit, earn a bit, and connect a bit :-)
Check out the latest update on the Hive Pizza token project. We also have an announcement in there about the newest PIZZA guild! We are up to four Splinterlands guilds now and are consistently well-ranking.
