Welcome to my 13th #BrawlReport as part of the @hive.pizza PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish guild!

I entered an Untamed fray for this brawl again and faced 7 opponents. My record was 3W-4L which put me in 5th place for our Guild. This is my worst brawl performance in quite a while as my win percentage was below 50%. As you'll see below, this was a combination of not having the right cards and just stupid card selections on my part.

Congrats to @amaillo-m for winning the most battles with 7 wins! @irregular-n also performed very well with 6 wins and only 1 loss, for the best win percentage in the guild this time, 85.7%.

PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish Results

We finished in 6th place, two spots lower than last time. We had a total of 37 wins and 40 losses which earned us 111 points. We also earned 8 crowns and 369 merits for our 6th place finish.

My Battles

Battle 1 - Loss

Healed Out: All healing abilities are removed from monsters and summoners.
Equalizer: The initial health of all monsters is equal to that of the monster on either team with the highest base health.

I was hesitant to deploy the Llama/Kron combo here because of the high mana and healed out restriction. Without the healing power for Kron, he is not nearly as threatening. The equalizer buff will raise the health of every monster so my Kron will last, but that means all my opponent's monsters are at the same starting health level.

I was also expecting my opponent to use magic attack, so my first two monster choices were a waste and led to my demise here.

Battle 2 - Loss

Taking Sides: Neutral monsters may not be used in battles.
Back to Basics: Monsters lose all abilities.

Here's another battle that made Llama/Kron a less than ideal setup, but I just don't have any other good Untamed summoner cards rented for this brawl.

Once again, I prepared for my opponent to use magic attack, but they didn't. This put me at a disadvantage right off the bat and led to my front lines being taken out quicker than usual. Two bad setups in a row for me has me a bit discouraged at the start of this brawl.

Battle 3 - Win

Taking Sides: Neutral monsters may not be used in battles.
Target Practice: All ranged and magic attack monsters have the snipe ability.

I'm hoping third time is a charm with the Llama/Kron combo. I got very nervous when I saw my opponent had a Gladius card in their lineup. That bloodlust ability combined with double strike is extremely powerful and if given time to build up, can pretty much take care of anything I put against it.

Thankfully, my Goblin Chief was able to take out the opponent's bloodlust monster and then Kron took care of the rest. Winning this battle was a relief.

Battle 4 - Win

Aim True: Melee and ranged attacks always hit their target.

Every battle so far has allowed the use of Llama/Kron, which is quite a bit different from the last brawl. My opponent relied on a lot of range monsters in the back row that just couldn't overtake the power of Kron. This win gave me a 2-game streak.

Battle 5 - Loss

Close Range: Ranged attacks may be used in the first position in battles.

This is the first battle that I can't use Llama/Kron and unfortunately, I didn't rent Yodin Zaku for this brawl and that would have been the best choice for this battle. My opponent was smart and used a +1 shield summoner that meant the first hit from my range monsters was wasted. They also matched my use of the Fire Elemental with blast ability. Ultimately, that +1 shield buff gave my opponent the win here.

Battle 6 - Win

Opponent fled.

Battle 7 - Loss

Stampede: The trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled monster is killed.

I must have learned something from the last battle and used the +1 shield summoner for myself this time. However, my opponent used a -1 shield buff that hurt my back line and they had a couple of high health monsters that were able to outlast my much lower value health stats.

This battle went down to the very last monster and I lost because my last monster was a range attack. My opponent only had one health left and I blew this one.

Final Thoughts

I was quite disappointed in my performance in this brawl. Two of the battles I straight up chose poorly with my cards, but at the same time I also didn't rent as many cards this time as I usually do for an Untamed brawl. Most brawls I end up renting about $5 worth of Untamed cards just to be competitive. I probably only spent half that this time and it showed in my poorer performance.

On the bright side, the rewards from this brawl has allowed our guild to upgrade the Barracks to level 2! This means we can start to use our Gladius cards in battle. I'm going to have to do some research on the best combinations of those Gladius cards for my next brawl. I think these Gladius cards are a game changer and they've proven to be very challenging to defeat when I've faced them in battle.

1Up Project

If you haven't seen the news yet, check out the new 1UP project. This looks like a great new gaming project for Play2Earn blockchain games like Splinterlands! I seem to be getting more than 100 OneUp tokens on each of these posts, so the earnings will add up over time!

What is the @hive.pizza #BrawlReport?

@kennysgaminglife has spearheaded the #BrawlReport project as a way to get PIZZA guild members more engaged in the @Splinterlands community. Here's what he had to say:

Starting with the brawl that just ended, I've invited/asked members of the #HivePizza guild to publish a #BrawlReport, breaking down their highs & lows, where they need help, questions they have, strategies they love, and so on. The idea is to help us all reflect a bit, learn a bit, share a bit, earn a bit, and connect a bit :-)
Any other guilds interested in publishing a #BrawlReport, either as individuals, or one for the whole guild, I'm happy to send some curation love your way!
