Welcome to my 12th #BrawlReport as part of the @hive.pizza PIZZA 2 The Deep Dish guild!

I entered Fray #3 for this brawl, which is a novice fray, but only allows Untamed edition cards to be used for battle.

I faced 8 opponents in Fray #3 and my record was 4W-4L which put me in 7th place for our Guild. I think this is the lowest ranking in our Guild that I've had before, but it's not as bad as it seems. We had a lot of members achieve greater than 50% win rates in this brawl, which is great!

Congrats to @seriousacord223 for winning the most battles with 7 wins!

We finished in 4th place, moving up a few ranks in this brawl! We had a total of 37 wins and 32 losses which earned us 111 points. This is great progress to see our overall win rate exceed 50%. We also earned 9 crowns and 415 merits for our 4th place finish.

My Battles

mybattles.jpg

Battle 1 - Loss

Spreading Fury: All monsters have the Enrage ability.
Equalizer: The initial health of all monsters is equal to that of the monster on either team with the highest base health.

This is a battle between two Llama/Kron combos. The only difference is my opponent put up a War Chaang tank and Failed Summoner ahead of Kron and I had a Unicorn Mustang. I really should try to better understand how the timing in these battles works since I ended up losing despite both of us having the exact same stats and monster left in round 5. It ends up coming down to which monster goes first to decide who loses.

Battle 2 - Win

Even Stevens: Only monsters with even mana costs may be used in battles.

This battle had several limitations on it in the form of even mana, low mana, and only three splinters. I ended up only putting up Kron, without the Llama summoner and thankfully his health regeneration was able to keep him chugging along to finish off my opponent's two monsters.

Battle 3 - Win

Equal Opportunity: All monsters have the Opportunity ability.

Here's another showdown between the Llama/Kron combo. This time I was up against a Gladius monster. These are cards only usable during brawls for guilds that have at least a level 2 barracks. Unfortunately, my guild does not have an upgraded barracks yet so these cards are unavailable to me. The bloodlust ability of those cards is especially powerful to overcome.

The mistake my opponent made was the bloodlust card had the lowest health of any of their cards so it was the first one to be targeted since all monsters were given the Opportunity ability. I'm confident that had my opponent placed a couple of lower health monsters this battle may have ended differently.

This battle ended the same as my battle #1 in which we both ended up with the same Kron vs. Kron showdown. I won this time despite the even matchup.

Battle 4 - Win

Broken Arrows: Ranged attack monsters may not be used in battles.

This was another no-brainer for Llama/Kron because of the restriction on ranged attack. My opponent tried using magic attack and my Unicorn Mustang tank blocked most of those while Kron was able to take them out one by one.

Battle 5 - Loss

Even Stevens: Only monsters with even mana costs may be used in battles.

I felt rather limited in this battle because of the even mana restriction and only being able to choose from water or death splinters. My opponent having Phantom of the Abyss put them over the top as the -1 magic from my summoner only knocked them down to 2 magic attack instead of the base level of 1 magic on mine.

Battle 6 - Loss

Aim True: Melee and ranged attacks always hit their target.
Broken Arrows: Ranged attack monsters may not be used in battles.

The broken arrow buff on this battle means I had to go with Magic attack. My opponent countered this by using a -1 Magic summoner. I also placed a tank-like monster in the back position to absorb any sneak attacks from my opponent, unfortunately they didn't use a single sneak attack so that maneuver of mine was wasted. I think that is what cost me this battle.

Battle 7 - Win

Reverse Speed: Monsters with the lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks..
Taking Sides: Neutral monsters may not be used in battles.

I was able to use Llama/Kron again for this battle and my opponent was not prepared for it by using a -1 Range summoner.

Battle 8 - Loss

Healed Out: All healing abilities are removed from monsters and summoners.
Spreading Fury: All monsters have the enrage ability.

Because of the Healed Out buff, I decided to not use Llama/Kron for this battle and instead relied on the blast ability to try to clear out my enemies. I am a fan of combining the blast ability with Snipe attack because they can effectively hit up to 3 monsters at a time. Unfortunately, I did not have a sneak attack monster in my lineup to take out the Gladius monster my opponent had in the last position. The bloodlust ability of that monster quickly made it unbeatable and led to my loss here.

Final Thoughts

This brawl just reiterated my feelings from last time that being able to utilize Gladius cards is going to be essential in order to remain competitive. My last battle was lost, probably entirely, because of a Gladius card that my opponent used. Our guild is currently running a contest to increase contributions to get our Barracks upgraded quickly. Thanks to fellow guild leader @dibblers.dabs for spearheading this!

1Up Project

If you haven't seen the news yet, check out the new 1UP project. This looks like a great new gaming project for Play2Earn blockchain games like Splinterlands! I seem to be getting more than 100 OneUp tokens on each of these posts, so the earnings will add up over time!

I keep staking my OneUp tokens and am loving all the rewards coming my way by using the #OneUp tag and writing about Splinterlands. The OneUp token is currently trading for almost 4 cents USD too!

What is the @hive.pizza #BrawlReport?

@kennysgaminglife has spearheaded the #BrawlReport project as a way to get PIZZA guild members more engaged in the @Splinterlands community. Here's what he had to say:

Starting with the brawl that just ended, I've invited/asked members of the #HivePizza guild to publish a #BrawlReport, breaking down their highs & lows, where they need help, questions they have, strategies they love, and so on. The idea is to help us all reflect a bit, learn a bit, share a bit, earn a bit, and connect a bit :-)
Any other guilds interested in publishing a #BrawlReport, either as individuals, or one for the whole guild, I'm happy to send some curation love your way!
