Splinterlands End of Season Rewards - Silver 2

This past season, I decided to hunt for the cheapest combat power I could find to bring myself up to Silver 2 for end of season rewards. I've had horrible luck in the past by overpaying for the end of season CP and ending up with a pretty crappy set of rewards. Let's take a look at what was included in the 15 reward chests I received.

Season Reward Chest Loot

Alchemy Potion x3 = 0.15
Legendary Potion x3 = 0.12
DEC x11 = 0.11
Gargoya Lion x2 = 0.36
Venari Wavesmith = 6.64
Venari Seedsmith = 0.71
Pelacor Mercenary = 0.25
Pelacor Deceiver x2 = 0.36

Total Value = $8.70

Last season I ended at Silver 1 and only got $5.28 worth of rewards, so this season was much better since I received several fewer chests but received more valuable items! I have four Venari Wavesmith cards now and they seem to rent quite easily so I may just keep them at level 1 for a while. I do tend to use that card fairly regularly for the +2 shield that it offers every card though.

I managed to keep my end of season rental costs around a few dollars and also utilized them for the brawl that occurred at the same time. This strategy seemed to work out well and possibly resulted in a little bit of profit this season.

Season Performance

Overall, this season went well and I achieved 70 wins out of 111 battles. That's a win-rate of 63%, which is an improvement of 7 percentage points over last season. I played far fewer battles this season as the daily quest reward changes have me avoiding playing if all I would be rewarded is with credits. My strategy has been to rent cards for brawls and then do most of my season battling then as well so that my rentals can serve double-duty. The only way to maintain Silver rank for me is to have a handful of rented cards on hand whenever I decide to play as my deck is just not good enough to compete.

Play vs. Invest

This past season there were several gameplay rewards changes that were necessary to ensure the longevity of the game, but did negatively impact me. I decided to shift more of my focus to investing and less playing. In doing so, I have been accumulating gold foil legendary cards that have great rental track records and renting them out. I've been tracking the rental income on a spreadsheet and the first card I did this with provided 4629 DEC of revenue after the 5% fee. That was equal to $45.69 at the DEC/$ conversion rate. The best part is that I bought that card for $240 on October 2nd. My first month of ownership brought me a 19% return!

The price of those cards increased dramatically over the month, but I did pick up a few more of them and am projecting an average of 10-12% return in November. Honestly, this is just as exciting to me as playing the game!

I also recently posted as part of #HIVEPUD, that I increased my SPT Power to 50,000. One of the best parts of Splinterlands is writing about Splinterlands! For those who don't want to spend time curating content, the @monster-curator account will take care of that for you and send you daily rewards for your share of their curation rewards! This is a completely passive way to earn with Splinterlands, you just need to delegate your SPT Power to them!
