Hello friends of Hive, today I bring you a new drawing for the weekly Splinterlands contest.

For this occasion I drew the Celestial Harpy card, I really liked the character since I saw him and I thought it would be quite fun to draw the feathers (spoiler: it wasn't).

It took quite some time to mix the colors and give volume and shape to the wings, as well as it took me extra time to sketch because it didn't look the way I wanted.

I'll show the illustration process below.

The first pose didn't look very natural even though it was my main idea. However, after trying to correct it a couple of times, I ended up taking a reference photo and used it to draw the movement of the arms.

I was coloring by choosing and mixing colors directly from the original drawing. I wanted to achieve a gradient of colors just like the one the character is wearing on the card.

There's a lot going on in the background and it still doesn't quite convince me, but I didn't know what else to do. Unfortunately I forgot to save the step by step of this one as I attached the visible layers without saving the .psd file of the layers beforehand, but I'll explain a bit what I did.

I took the gradient tool of photoshop with two blue tones, one light and one dark. Then in paint tool sai with a custom cloud brush I started drawing them around the canvas. On the top with the brush on a luminosity layer I added some bright sparkles, and shaded some areas with a pale pink in multiply mode.
