My Actifit Report Card: July 10 2026

Jestem przemęczony. Serio. Za dużo tego wszystkiego naraz. Starke Belastung. Przykład? Fatamorgana. Pojechałem do Bytomia na spotkanie na 12:40, a na miejscu okazało się, że ono było na 14:30. Na szczęście wyszedłem na głupka tylko przed pracownikami. Dzięki temu mogę was zabrać na wycieczkę po Bytomiu. @grecki-bazar-ewy bardzo lubi te miasto. Ja może nie mam jakichś większych emocji, ale obiektywnie tytuł perły Śląska jest zasłużony. Ciężko nadrobić 80 lat zaniedbań, ale widać, że w mieście coś się dzieje. Zobaczcie sami. 10 lat temu padła by tu pewnie metafora o małpie i zegarku, ale Bytom zrujnowany przez Polskę może koniec końców nie skończy najgorzej. Nie znaczy to, że skończy dobrze, ale mam wrażenie, że skończy trochę lepiej.

A good example? A complete mirage. I drove to Bytom for a meeting that I thought was at 12:40, only to discover when I arrived that it was actually scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Fortunately, I only ended up looking like an idiot in front of the staff.
On the bright side, it gave me a chance to take you on a little tour of Bytom. @grecki-bazar-ewy is a big fan of this city. I don't have particularly strong feelings about it myself, but objectively, its reputation as one of the pearls of Silesia is well deserved.
It's hard to make up for 80 years of neglect, but you can clearly see that things are starting to happen here. See for yourselves. Ten years ago, I probably would have used the old "a monkey with a watch" metaphor, but perhaps Bytom—after being so badly run down in Poland—won't end up with the worst possible fate after all. That doesn't mean it will have a perfect future, but I do get the feeling that things may turn out a little better than many would have expected.
