Underboss Fabino | Entry for splinterlands art contest for this week!

Splinterlands Art Contest

Hello guys and welcome back to my new blog!

I decided to try something different today. I have been concentrating more on making my painting semi/realistic as much as I can for a while now. There was something I wanted to try for a very long time now. If you know me I don't concentrate on making good lineart because I usually just erase or fuse them later with the painted layer for a more realistic effect. Yesterday I suddenly had an urge to play with line weights. If you are a beginner then this is something you should know because of your art is gonna retain lineart then looking into line weights will amplify the quality of the overall painting. Someone here already has mastered it (personal opinion). He is @deddywox and we talked about how he achieved that level of quality and he was nice enough to point me in the right direction and suggested me some videos as well. Its been so long since then so I doubt he will remember that haha. Finally, I was able to draw one based on that. This was my first try and I usually don't use pressure sensivity on my tab because it's bad when I use it on ibis paint. I found a work around yesterday but it's nowhere near as good as other professional drawing softwares like clip studio, photoshop etc. Well, this was the result so let me know if you like it or not hehe.

I wanted this to be a portrait painting because then the line weight will be more visible and easy to work with. Plus I only need to concentrate on the face and nearby parts. I found the perfect reference for Fabino from Pinterest. It's his nose he reminds me of Penguin from Batman. The resemblance was very similar so I decided to work with this.

Not going to lie because playing with line weight was hard xd. Ofcourse everything has to be hard in the beginning haha. After a while I got hang to the pressure sensivity settings of Dip pen hard and eventually got a good result. Next up was the hard part. I dont have much experience drawing non human characters. Sometimes I get lucky and it ends up good. This time I'm not so sure so I like to hear a second opinion as well hehe. Almost forgot, this time I painted the rough sketch on my tab instead of relying on paper and pencil. I think it's time to move forward like this.

The painting process is similar from other works. The one thing I did different this time is that I used black to add one more layer of shadow to show strong contrast. Never tried this before on my paintings before. I think I like it. Reminds me of the Spider-Man comics I read when I was in high school. Good times!

Tools used: Ibis paint X

Duration: 8 hrs

Thank you so much for your support :)

This looks really cool, and really stands out👏☺👊, I haven't fully mastered pen pressure in my work because my work references how the line weight of comics like invincible, marvel or dccomic as well as Saitama comics in the manga version ha .ha..this is an improvement on my work amazing friend, I hope you can be in the top 3 this time🙏

Hey man😁, thank you so much for replying!

I refuse to believe that you haven't mastered it haha but that's also good news because now we know that there will be more improvements from you in the future :)

In the meantime it's time to check out some comics hehe.

Yes, you're welcome friends☺😊, I feel like I'm still a beginner, because I'm only serious about learning to draw in 2021, and even then I'm just self-taught from YouTube, TikTok and Instagram of artists I admire. I don't know when my skills will improve but I hope to continue to love this field today and in the future. Yes, for line art, I look a lot at comic references, because that's the best😁

That's pretty cool considering you improved this much in a short time 😁.

I've liked drawing since I was little, but I only really focused on learning to draw until 2021 ha..ha.ha, maybe I've had a lot of time to practice now so it looks like it's improving a lot, and I realized I'm starting to improve my drawing results after focusing on studying anatomy and perspective. that's very helpful

Covid literally forced everyone to find new hobbies huh bro.

Perspective is very hard for me. I can copy it to an extent but there is still some issues.

Yes, it's true that Covid has changed the world to be different and so have the people, yes it is very difficult in perspective but in my opinion that is the main key to good illustration because many famous artists are not good at coloring but are strong in anatomy and perspective making their black and white work very beautiful like the late Kim Jung Gi

You are right. Perspective drawings are cool but hard to master. Even anime styled ones look badass!

Yes, that's the challenge, because Ai isn't that good at making perspective drawings, at least if a real artist masters it, there's still hope of surviving😁

Yes, let's fight and show who is the real artist and the art fraudster

Yep 💯👍. Don't worry bro, I don't think companies will hire ai to do professional work which are expected to make huge profit margins. They want artists who are talented and creative who can understand and adapt according to the work they are given to them. If you look at some ai arts you can pretty much identify it with some experience. If someone is paying they want unique art. That sells this one doesn't atleast in a way that significantly impact an artist's career :)

In the future we can see artists using ai as well to do work faster. It's gonna happen whether we like it or not. Think about tractors, when it arrived farmers protested and now it's everywhere. We can only adapt and improve. I know this is forced upon us but we have no choice right now.

A great and motivating answer that makes me more enthusiastic. Because one day I dream of being able to publish my own comic books and animated films☺, thank you🙏

Glad I could help and bro Im sure you will be successful. You are very skilled and I think your current quality is more than enough to be featured on books and animations as well.

Kinda sucked that you didn't know about noise cash and readcash. Both sites offered good amount of rewards without any splitting. The nfts were selling like hot cakes on websites powered by bch. You could have made significant profit and a name in there if you were there. Now funding has lost it's pretty inactive now. However if btc ever regains it's ATH the old projects might revive so never say never :)

what is noise cash and readcash?

yes, thank you, I will continue to try to practice so that I become the best version of myself, even though sometimes I am not motivated because my environment does not support me focusing on this field of illustration, but I am sure that one day I will have the opportunity to be successful if stay consistent in this area, your words are very motivating my friend makes me more confident about myself🙏 thank you very much😊

noise.cash is a microblogging site while read.cash is a blogging site.

I get the whole stigma behind choosing the art field. No parents here want you to be an artist because the money is not there. It's a risky career choice so I understand.

I hope you find time to practice. Don't be like me xd. I'm not disciplined haha. I took 60 days off from hive and I noticed a significant drop in quality compared to my previous works. Totally regretting it now lol.

OK, thanks for the info, I'll try to find out, yes actually taking leave at the hive is no problem, as long as you keep practicing even if you don't post ha.ha.ha., yes this is a risky field but basically humans are created to be creatures who always takes risks😁, thank you from this chat I got a lot of good input from you my friend☺
