Hello, everyone! It's time for another Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge from Splinterlands. In this post, we will showcase the 'Counterspell' ruleset, where ALL units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back. For this battle challenge, I will share a Bronze League Level Caps Ranked battle. Let's take a closer look at the card I used to win in this ruleset and how it contributed to my team's victory.

Counterspell
All units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back. Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
Magic units with the reflection shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
The amplify ability increases damage

Battle Configuration

For this battle, here are the specific rulesets and a mana cap to consider:

Rulesets:
Counterspell: All units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back.

Mana Cap: 35
Active Elements: Earth, Death

My Lineup:

Summoner: Waka Spiritblade

  • Ability to Give to allies: Attacks have a 50% chance to apply poison, which does automatic damage to the target at the beginning of each round after the poison is applied.

1st Position: Cursed Windeku

  • I chose this for the first position due to its Thorn ability. Together with Poison ability, this unit can be a tough one to beat.

2nd and 5th Positions: Riftwing and Will-O-Wisp

  • Their No Attack stats will be usable to Zyriel's Weapon Training ability. Also, Riftwing's HP will increase every time a unit dies on both sides and can serve as a secondary tank.

3rd Position: Zyriel

  • It's Weapon Training ability is perfect for Riftwing and Will-O-Wisps. This will increase the fire power of my line-up.

5th Position: Avarisdeus

  • I used this unit for its Scatter and Double Strike abilities. This will increase the chance of applying Poison to two units in a single round.

6th Position: Silent Sha-Vi

  • This is my only back line attacker and can be useful to take down healers at the back.

Strategy: I selected this lineup for the Counterspell ruleset to maximize the Poison ability of my team. With this ruleset, opponent will likely not use Magic Attack units and will resort to either Melee or Ranged attack. Cursed Windeku's Thorn is quite perfect for this and the front, back and scatter attacks will increase the probability of the poison to be applied to the opponent.

Let's Rumble

The enemy used Fernheart as the summoner so that its Ranged Attack Monsters can still attack even if they are in the first position. The enemy also used Satha Toledo as its Healer.

By the end of round 1, enemy Terraceous Grunt was defeated already while I still have all my units. Also, Satha Toledo got poisoined by Silent Sha-Vi's attack.

By the end of round 2, Cursed Windekue, Satha Toledo and Supply Runner where already defeated. At this point, I have the advantage because of the firepower and poison ability.

By the end of round 3,Vampiric Blossom was easily defeated and other enemy monsters followed thru.

And this made me the winner of this battle. You can check the full battle replay here - Battle Replay from Splinterlands.

This battle seems quite one-sided, perhaps due to the difference in overall damage output. Additionally, I enjoy using the Weapon Training ability because it effectively utilizes monsters with no attacks at all.
