Hello, everyone! It's time for another Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge from Splinterlands. In this post, we will showcase the 'Even Stevens' ruleset, where only units with even mana costs may be used. Please note that this rule does not apply to summoners. For this battle challenge, I will share a Brawl battle with Silver League level caps. Let's take a closer look at the card I used to win in this ruleset and how it contributed to my team's victory.

Even Stevens
Only units with even mana costs may be used. This rule does not apply to summoners.

Battle Configuration

For this battle, here are the specific rulesets and a mana cap to consider:

Rulesets:
Even Stevens: Only Monsters with even mana costs may be used.
Noxious Fumes: All Monsters start the battle Poisoned.
Lost Legendaries: Legendary Monsters may not be used in battles.

Mana Cap: 52
Active Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Death, Dragon

My Lineup:

Summoner: Eternan Brune

  • Ability to Give to allies: All enemy Monsters have -2 Armor. Allows the use of one additional Gladiator card in battle.

1st Position: Gorth
-- This is my first Gladiator in this battle and placed in the first position. It has no other abilities aside from Bloodlust but it has a thick HP of 13 and high attack power of 5 which can be very useful to trigger its bloodlust ability.

2nd Position: Chimney Wallstop
-- And because I used a summoner to allow the use of an additional Gladiator card, I was able to use this and placed it in the 2nd position with its Reach ability.

3rd Position: Iidri Fyre
-- It has the Taunt ability to redirect all attacks to this card if the enemy is able. And when it dies, it will trigger its Redemption ability to provide additional damage to enemy.

4th Position: Scavo Chemist
-- This card has the Cleanse ability and will remove the poison de-buff on the monster in the first position.

5th Position: Magi of Chaos
-- The main purpose of this card is to provide addition magic damage to the enemy.

6th Position: Venari Spellsmith
-- And since we are in Brawl battle, it is better to use a monster with Dispel ability to remove the buff from Bloodlust ability.

Strategy: The stategy is quite simple, to win by brute force with being killed by poison. The mana cap is huge enough to summon powerful monsters however, because of the Even Stevens plus Lost Legendaries Rulesets, the list of monsters that can be used was significantly trimmed down. So the approach here is to cleanse the poison of one of my Gladiator and hopefully the Bloodlust ability will be triggered on my two Gladiator cards.

Let's Rumble

The enemy used Kelya Frendul as the Summoner, granting its allied monsters +1 Speed and +1 Armor. This ability proves useful in preventing direct hits from physical attacks. The enemy also deployed a monster with Taunt, Cleanse, and Dispel.

In round 1, I had the advantage because I had two attackers capable of inflicting damage on Diemonshark, while the enemy had only one. By the end of round 1, Diemonshark's HP was already down to 3, and both sides still had the Taunt ability.

In round 2, the enemy Edith Emberstar triggered its Bloodlust ability by killing my Iidri Fyre. Gorth also triggered its Bloodlust ability by defeating Diemonshark.

In round 3, the enemy Edith Emberstar triggered its Bloodlust ability again by killing my Gorth. And by the end of round 3, both sides has 2 monster remaining.

In round 4, fortunately Chimney Wallstop was able to trigger its Bloodlust ability by killing Xenith Monk.

In round 5, as you can see, Chimney Wallstop has 1 HP left, while Edith Emberstar has 2 HP left. Both are still poisoned. Since Edith Emberstar cannot attack in the first position, Chimney Wallstop emerged victorious.

You can check the full battle replay here - Battle Replay from Splinterlands.

If Chimney Wallstop's Bloodlust hadn't triggered in time, I might have lost the battle due to poison. Truly, Bloodlust is a powerful ability, but correct monster placement is still the key to victory.
