Hello everyone, Lester here! It's time again for Splinterlands Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge! How's your recent rewards from Focus Chests? Good? Bad? Meh? While you're not sure yet on what is your next strategy, check out my entry to SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! XENITH ARCHER.

For this post, let's review one of the Neutral Cards from Chaos Legion - Xenith Archer. I will be also sharing some of my battles using this card. Before going through the details, let check first this card's stat and lore.

Xenith Archer

Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: RARE
Element: NEUTRAL
Attack: RANGED
Abilities: NONE

The Xenith Scale is devoted to enlightenment, knowledge, and the protection of others. Members among the order practice to remain balanced in all things and believe Mana, too, should remain balanced. It should not be used to cause chaos or disorder, nor should it be used to tip the scales of justice in either direction. The order believes in fate and that everything has its proper place. Fate and destiny are predetermined, and they should not be altered.... (Xenith Archer Lore)

Xenith Archer Card Review

Xenith Archer is one of the few cards that has no Ability even if it reach the highest level possible. To compensate for that, I think, it costs 2 mana only to summon and has 2 HP. However, it only has 1 Attack until it reach level level 6. Given these stats, how and when should we use Xenith Archer? You might be thinking that it will be easily killed or cannot do much damage in the battle.

To maximize the use of this card, you need to know the right configuration. Let's start with the Summoners. Since Xenith Archer is a neutral card, there are several summoners that this card can work well with.

The first one is Prince Rennyn, a legendary summoner from Earth Element that gives +1 Ranged Attack as well as +1 Speed and +1 HP. The next one is from Fire Element, Yodin Zaku, which gives +1 Ranged Attack, +1 HP and Blast ability. We also have General Sloan and Selenia Sky that gives +1 Ranged Attack.

How about the Rulesets? For me these are the Rulesets that are most compatible with Xenith Archer.

Rise of the Commons: Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.
Xenith Archer is a Rare means you can use this card in this ruleset. Other cards that prey on the weak cannot be used in this ruleset.
Back to Basics: Monsters lose all abilities.
Since Xenith Archer has no ability at all, there is nothing to lose. :)
Equalizer: The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.
Xenith Archer has low HP and this ruleset will compensate to that.
Little League: Only Monsters & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used in battles.
Xenith Archer costs 2 Mana only and perfect for this ruleset.
On top of these Rulesets, it is best to use Xenith Archer in low mana cap battles. One of my favorites is using Selenia Sky or Prince Rennyn and 2-mana costs cards when the battle has low mana cap.

Battle Challenge Line Up

Here is the line-up I used in this battle challenge. In this battle, the ruleset is Rise of the Commons. The mana cap is 20 only and this gives me limited monster units to be used in this battle. All elements can be used and I am currently doing my Focus Element which is Earth, so that's why I tried this line-up. When having a focus element with a summoner that gives +1 Ranged Attack, I always make sure that I rented/owned a Xenith Archer. With This kind of ruleset and mana cap, the list of usable cards are limited. But since Xenith Archer is costs 2 mana and a Rare card, I can use it in this ruleset.

In this battle, my strategy is to use as much as possible low mana cost cards. I used the Prince Rennyn (5) as my summoner to take advantage of its +1 HP for Flesh Golem's heal and +1 Ranged Attack for my ranged attack cards. My tank here is a level 3 Flesh Golem (6) with its Heal ability. For me, this is a good tank given that it will receive +1 HP from Prince Rennyn to maximize its Heal ability. My Pos 2 card here is Mycelic Morphoid (1) inflict additional damage to enemy melee cards. My Pos 3 is Earth Elemental (3), a ranged attack card with 6 HP, good for providing shield to my back line attackers in case my melee cards were defeated. Next card to it is Xenith Archer (2) and will benefit from Prince Rennyns +1 Ranged Attack, HP and Speed. This will compensate Xenith Archer's low HP and Speed at level 3. My fifth card is Goblin Dartling (2) which is also a Ranged card. And my 6th card is Creeping Ooze (1). It provides speed debuff to enemy hoping that my cards will attack first. All in all, the total mana cost of this line up is 20.

The Battle

The opponent used Light element with Shieldbearer as tank, Scavo Hireling for repairing Shieldbearer's shield, Venari Crystalsmith for healing the tank and Celestial Harpy for backdoor attacks.

At the end of Round 1, no card was sent to graveyard and both sides received minimal damage.

At the end of Round 2, Celestial Harpy was defeated because it attacked Mycelic Morphoid and received damage from thorns. My line up is still intact and Shieldbearer's HP was down to 6.

In Round 3, turn 5, Xenith Archer dealt the final blow to Shielbearer. After the Shieldbearer was defeated, the battle led to my victory.

Did your strategy work?

Yes, my strategy worked and I won the battle. My strategy to maximize the number of my cards by using low mana cards worked well. With several attackers, the opponent's support cards weren't able to keep up with my cards' damage. Xenith Archer contributed a lot in this battle by adding fire power to my line up.

What will you try differently next time?

Given the same ruleset and mana cap, I will still use Xenith Archer. However, if all cards are usable, I may opt to use other 2-mana cost cards from Neutral element, like Halfling Alchemist.

Here is another replay of one of my battles using Xenith Archer.

Pairing Xenith Archer with Yodin is a synergy I hadn't really thought of. Nice catch!

Also, Prince Rennyn is practically tailor-made for her!

oh yes, prince rennyn and other 2-mana cost ranged attack cards and a 2 or 3-mana cost tank will do good in low mana cap battles :D
