SPS Governance Proposal - No Convenience Fee for CA Pack Sales
4a058cdd3eec39c42d2923ac9d2cf20ad1b53133
Purpose: to give players a choice to purchase in-game items from the team without incurring a convenience fee. Since Splinterlands derives most of their revenues via main edition pack sales, we would be willing to cover the costs of credit card or crypto fees if those items were purchased directly from the team in hard currency.
If this proposal passes:
1) There will be an option created to purchase Conclave Arcana packs using a credit card or crypto, in addition to buying with CREDITS (which incurs a convenience fee) or DEC.
2) There will be a minimum of $20 in purchases through this direct method.
3) This option will NOT have a convenience fee to the customer. Splinterlands and the SPS DAO will equally split the fees incurred.
4) Splinterlands and the SPS DAO will each receive 1/2 the net proceeds from all Conclave Arcana pack sales less fees incurred.
What is with the bonus in Glint and Starter Packs or Potions - They still apply or only in the case if purchasing credits ?
No the bonus would not apply to this option, there would be no fee in this case, so no bonus would apply.
This change will be only for Conclave Arcana packs or also future packs ?
Will it also be valid for Starter packs ?
It would only be for Conclave Arcana packs because that's the only packs that the DAO already has an agreement with the Splinterlands team on. Any new packs would include any new conditions put forth in any of those proposals.
Option should be there for spellbooks too
But I think that spellbook have nothing to do with the DAO or I am wrong, so I think Splinterlands can do it for spellbook without a DAO vots.
that is correct, this is just a vote to see if the DAO wants to get paid in hard currency and share the fee.
I think it is fine for the DAO to receive fiat money but perhaps not to hold it as such. Is there a plan to, for example, buy more bitcoin?
if I proposal passed to do that then its possible. The issue is the DAO selling the assets to get something else would work against the price. Thus some people most likely wouldn't vote for that option until we get more demand for our assets.
Andy, this is only a proposal regarding the packs that the DAO has a contract with the Splinterlands team on.
The Direct FIAT onramp would be HUGE...
HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE!!!
If its this easy to do this, it feels like it should have been done years ago. I'm a yes, although I'm currently unstaking most of my SPS for the miniset so my vote won't count for much anymore. :-)
I don't know what exactly it help us to say that this should have been done years ago - As we cannot turn back the clock the only question is if it should be done now or not.
👍
Seems like a good thing for the community. I'm in!
Thank you Dave, this directly addresses the issues you commented about on discord couple of days ago!
So' what does this mean? And who's paying the fees?
If players buy packs directly with credit card or crypto vendors (paypal, venmo, or coinbase), then the fee is paid by Splinterlands. If the packs are bought with credits then the fee to get credits is paid by the players.
