Welcome Dave McCoy to the Splinterlands Team!
The Splinterlands team is excited to announce that our very own Dave McCoy (@davemccoy) has joined the company as our new Chief Operating Officer!
With a distinguished career spanning 40 years in the financial services industry, Dave has a deep understanding of financial matters, and a proven leadership ability to deliver results at the executive level. Even more importantly, Dave has been an extremely supportive and valuable member of the Splinterlands community since the launch of the product nearly seven years ago.
With Dave on board to begin taking on the corporate operations and management tasks we expect the company will be able to run more smoothly and efficiently going forward while allowing @yabapmatt to begin to switch his focus back primarily to product design, where he can provide the most value.
Dave had this to say about joining the team:
"I’m excited and honored to be selected as the COO of Steem Monsters Corp. As one of the original players, I’ve watched firsthand the game and the community develop at an incredibly fast pace over the past 7 years. I’ve had faith and confidence in the vision of the founders, and I very much feel that we are poised to go to the next level of evolution. Initially my focus will clearly be on the attraction and retention of new players so we can deliver on our full potential by unlocking value to the ecosystem, thus enabling us to reach our ambitious goals."
Dave also plans to join the regularly scheduled Town Hall events going forward and he will also make himself available to answer questions posted in the #town-hall channel in the Splinterlands Discord server.

Congratulations! I think you will do a great job. Your heart is in the right place.
This is exactly what we need to see at the moment. Most of our current issues will be fixed if we simply had more active users. I have seen that the conversion rate from signups to Spellbook has almost tripled over the last year. We are on the right track.
INLEO is developing more ways to onboard users and eventually they will be made open source. Combine that with what Leo Merchants can offer (a protocol that use HIVE-Engine, @mayaprotocol and later THORChain, Chainflip and Rango to act as a cross chain DEX) it is possible to create a smooth user experience from signups to spending what they earn.

Congrats Dave! Been a little out of the loop and personally wasn't too pleased with many of the decisions as of late, but I consider this really good news. Remember we had a brief chat back when you were running the spring tournaments with wax prizes. I believe your heart is in the right place and honestly want what's best for the game and its community, good luck in the next step of this adventure 🤞

This is exciting for a couple of reasons! One is that it's obviously a move Matt's wanting to make for a while, but not until the time is right. @davemccoy - not following the game that much anymore but that is huge news - will that be the day I regret having sold nearly all my assets (aince Alpha max decks) :-)? I do not know but this decision is probably the best decision the company has done since 4 years. Good luck mate! Your skills are never doubted - so i will keep my small assets left for a bit :-).

I understand you have been frustrated for a long time, and I also realize that everyone has their own patience thresholds. I was always sad to see you not having fun in the last year or so, but I'm thrilled that you still have some of your assets so that you will pay attention to what lies ahead.
I have an account that I would let you play anytime and keep all the SPS if you ever want to come back and just enjoy the game again. And you always have a standing invitation to play brawls with Team Possible too!
I hope you keep your eyes open over the course of 2025 and see what changes are implemented, because I'm quite sure you will know how to navigate the landscape!

Haha, no worries mate - the frustration is gone - i am over that (it is as it is). I got a bit under 400k SPS staked left, some cards and land (which someone buys from time to time) - i put most into Hive so I can do something there (prize was a bit stopping me to stake more but will come).
Good luck mate! And thanks for the guild offer - we discussed that already - even I might not play brawls anymore soon with the @legendarydragons due to lack of cards I can not jump to the competition - sure you understand that - but many thanks again!
I've been around long enough ('21) and seen enough of your carefully thought out thoughts and opinions on a number of the votes/issues/discussions over the years to know that your intentions are in the right place. I agree with the sentiment that this can only mean good things for Splinterlands. Sounds like the support is there and the continued desire to keep this growing. The Age of Dave in Praetoria is upon us! This is one of the best moves the game has made since it gets a great person to manage the day-to-day things that come up in the company that needs to be resolved.
