Thoughts On The New Splinterlands ERC Sytem

Personally I love changes to any game. It keeps things fresh and new strategies fun and engaging. It keeps people thinking and forming new strategies while destroying old which to me keeps things more even playing field for those willing to invest the time and commitment into the game.

Splinterlands used to run off of an old system called ERC and would deplete for each battle won.

How the new system worked is dumbed down and to me more effective however there are some questions that come to mind.

The system gives you 50 energy to start out with of which 1 energy will be burned. Now to me the huge difference here seems like EVERY battle played will cost 1 energy if you win or lose. Before ERC was only depleted if you won the battle. If that is in fact the case people are most likely going to put a lot more strategy into their picks each battle. I know for myself I pretty much pick my same line up because I know I can keep thrashing it out and earn my rewards for the day. While I do make some adjustments if their earthquake involved for example for the most part I focus on the same cards played and it seems to do decently well for me.

However 1 energy will be regenerated each hour meaning 24 energy will be filled per day. That means 24 games played per day however you could now miss a day and over two days have 48 energy to play with which is kind of nice because you don’t have to battle it all out every single day you can spread it out a bit if you happen to be away or don’t have the time to put in 24 battles that day.

If you’re really into winning you can also buy more energy up to 50 a day at rates depending on your current rank.

Bronze - 1 DEC or roughly $0.001
Silver - 10 DEC or roughly $0.01
Gold - 50 DEC or roughly $0.05
Diamond - 150 or roughly $0.15
Champion - 500 or roughly $0.50

As you can see at those higher levels it becomes a bit pricy to pick up those extra battles however it might be worth it for the rewards that could be earned including the SPS rewards. That’s because SPS rewards will no longer factor in ERC and instead will be whole and even across all battles which is going to be interesting to see what type of SPS is earned per battle. Right now I pick up about a half of a SPS and while that doesn’t sound like a lot at current prices it very well could be worth a good $0.10 per battle for where I expect SPS to get to in the next bull run cycle of roughly $0.20 per SPS. (of course there are many factors that will go into this price over time)

What I really want to see is after a week for the @splinterlands team to pull the stats and show how much DEC was burned from this new method.
