"Animal style" your Jaga Pokkuru potato snacks
Hello, um, yes, so I am one of those people who has never posted anything on HIVE other than Splinterlands related content. However, I understand that the HIVE community is broader and more amazingly diverse than just what we have in the Splinterlands ecosystem. Clay in SPL tavern had mentioned that the HIVE community might be interested in hearing about some of our other interests (not just SPL) and posting in other areas on HIVE. So ok then, just remember, you asked for this!
Here goes, CULINARY POST (with a self-made mock-mercial for the WEN network at the end!). I have no idea what to tag here, so hopefully some people who also are into food will see this 🙏
You may already know that I am an aspiring amateur animator, a mediocore splinterlands player, and someone with a really random sense of humor. But what you might not know yet is that I also like food. Like, I really like food. And I eat a lot of it. I also keep very active, very very active, so I need to eat lots of calories to keep up. Recently someone turned me on to these amazing potato snacks from Japan called jaga pokkurus. Here is the link on amazon if you want to buy some. Imagine french fries but with the texture of a potato chip and being able to store them indefinitely in litte snack packs. Plus, I mean, look at these cute fry guys on the box!!! 😍
Now is where the culinary magic comes in. If you know what "animal style" means at In-n-Out Burger in California, USA, you know what I'm about to do for your jaga fries. If you don't know what animal style means, watch this video below and skip to around 1:00 for the explanation. For real, seriously. Learn what many consider a key part of modern California cultural history: The Secret (not-so-secret) Animal Style Burger from In-n-Out!
Ok, here it is. The secret "animal style" on jaga fries. Dip them in honey 🤤 and/or honey bbq sauce if you're feeling more savory. OMG. I know, it sounds so simple, but trust me it is a taste explosion in your mouth + the honey is not only extra goodness but it's also extra calories (natural glucose) if you're looking for more of that 💪 I mean really, there are so many dipping sauce options and I plan to explore more. Maybe jaga fries and molasses?!
On that last point, it may sound random, but only if you've never watched the show "Over the Garden Wall" on Cartoon Network, which I would highly recommend. Wikipedia link here (warning spoilers in that link).
For me, that show is genius. And dipping these potatoes in honey reminded me of that song "Potatoes and Molasses" from this show. So anyway, because of that I just had to rip those fry guys off the cover of the box and then "mash" it up with a very simple animation. It's just how my brain works. Like an itch I had to scratch before I could move on with my day. (Btw no AI used here at all, just photoshop timeline animation and puppet warp, if you are one of those people who cares 🤷♂).
Also check out the original song and animation in the link below, which neither I nor anyone could ever top. It's so genius on so many levels, but that is a topic for another post.
Anyway, that's me--another aspect of me at least--not related to splinterlands. I also do some other fun stuff, so maybe I'll post some more of that at some point 🙏 If you try this culinary trick, please comment below and let me know if I am insane or if this is the best snack ever.
