First Encounter with Rage

In my last post, I've talked about my experience with the new ranked battle format. And so far, while I've quickly risen above the bronze league, I've now been struggling and fighting my way through silver. And while there are many low card level players, I have also encountered a lot of max-level ones probably trying to ascend their alt accounts to higher leagues. And a common thing about the players I encounter is that they mostly use Chaos Legion cards with a few common and rare ones from Rebellion. So it came as a surprise to me when somebody used the newly airdropped card, Rage.

I haven't really paid much attention to Rage until this point. I know that it's a beast of a card given the amount of mana needed to summon it. And I must say, it's designed to demolish everything in its path. It's bad enough that it deals high magic damage, it also shares it with up to two other adjacent monsters via weapons training. He is also immune to magic himself and denies the enemy the ability to heal, which is pretty wicked.

So I was not expecting to win when this enemy lineup appeared in my screen. You can check out the battle link here.

I used a typical Death splinter strategy with Cursed Windeku as tank. I can now fully utilize him with his self-heal and slow ability thanks to the new ranked system. The enemy went with two sets of weapons training, giving magic damage from Rage and range damage from Zyriel.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that my team managed to dispatch two monsters at round one. Even though the enemy has an advantage in damage output, my units were quicker thanks to Cursed Windeku and Zyriel. We now face Rage in the frontlines.

After that, the enemy ripped through Cursed Windeku, Shadow Snitch, and Wierding Warrior. One saving grace is that Venari Bonesmith kept on hitting the poison throughout the match. He even got it on Rage.

And that poison is what killed Rage at the start of round three. I still had Venari Bonesmith and Djinn Miurat which cleaned up the rest of the match. It was a close call for me and I would have lost if the enemy played with max-level cards.
