Regardless of the celebration, weddings, birthdays, baptisms, or holiday parties, no Filipino gathering is truly complete without the lechon or roasted pig. The lechon is definitely a head-turner whenever it is served in the buffet table. It trumps all other dishes with its crunchy roasted skin and mouth-watering meat especially when paired with sweet sauce.

You can say that lechon is a symbol of prosperity in the Filipino culture. It's quite costly to serve an entire roasted pig in a gathering. So having lechon in an event signifies that the host is well-off or that the occasion was highly significant to their lives. And now that I think about it, it's been almost a year since I've last eaten lechon.

I felt delighted and excited when one of the founders of TeamPH, Leveluplife, suddenly announced the creation of a new token called LECHON. The first time it was teased, it was shrouded in mystery as to what it would be used for. A few days later, it was revealed that the LECHON token was pre-minted with a total maximum supply of 10,000. Half of that, 5,000, was airdropped to a hundred members of the TeamPH community. The other half will be given as promotions and liquidity pool rewards.

The first utility for the LECHON token was already announced and is currently being implemented. You can burn 1 LECHON token in exchange for a 10,000 SPS delegation for one week.

At the time of writing, the going bid for SPS delegation is 420 DEC (1.012 HIVE) for 10,000 SPS.

And right now, you can buy LECHON at 0.68 HIVE each. This means that by burning LECHON instead of renting, you save yourself about 32% of the cost. This is a clever way of providing value to a token as SPS rental doesn't really trade any asset away but just provides delegation for a limited time. The token supply is also so low that 1.6% is already burned. This will eventually lead to scarcity and hopefully drive up its value.
