TeamPH has recently concluded its community tournament for the month of August. It is a silver level modern format tournament with guaranteed prizes for the top 20 players with 25 DEC entry. It was practically free money and I was surprised that only 16 players participated this month.

But at the same time, having fewer participants meant higher chances of me landing in a good rank. And luck was on my side this time around as I somehow managed to tie in first place with Mangomayhem.

I'm still using my cheap silver league rental list and it performed surprisingly well. I usually ranked outside the top ten in the previous tournaments that I've joined. And although I won all of my assigned matches, if you look closely, you will realize that a few of them were close calls that somehow swayed in my favor.

The battle that I'll be sharing is a match between me and Scion02B. It is a 26-mana match with Up Close and Personal, Briar Patch, and Rise of the Commons rule sets. You can check the link here.

The opponent chose Immortalis for his summoner which is a good decision. Although the Void ability has no benefit due to the rule set, the Shatter and health reduction is very effective especially since all attacks will be reflected back to the monsters.

And since every monster will be of the melee type, I decided to go a different route and place a Lichen Beast at the backline in order to receive Scarred Llama's Last Stand. I expected that this together with Lichen's Enrage would result in a monster with insane evasion capabilities.

With the help of Immortalis' debuff, Mycelic Infantry quickly destroyed my monsters leaving Lichen Beast alone on the frontlines.

And even with the combined Last Stand and Enrage, Lichen Beast's speed only summed up to 5, which is a bit underwhelming considering he was still getting hit by Disintegrator who only had 2 speed.

And I was in a really tight spot since Lichen Beast could easily die from an attack and the Thorn damage. But luckily, due to the speed increase, his attack landed first, killing the Xenith Monk and ending the game in my favor.

This tournament gained me 4,500 THGaming, 1,400 TeamPH, and 200 PIMP tokens. This was my best tournament result so far and I'm looking forward to the next ones. If you're interested in joining the next TeamPH tournament, click on the Discord link below and join this awesome community.
