As a support for the six-year anniversary of Splinterlands, I decided to feature Rebellion cards for my social media challenge entries. I want to highlight Zebajin first because this card intrigued me ever since Rebellion came out.

Card Stats and Lore

Zebajin is a bit weird for me because his card art appears to be a humanoid dragon like Akane and Kei so he should be in the dragon splinter instead of earth. Maybe I should look more into the lore articles, but even if he is from the dragon clan, the practice of runemancy may be what aligned him more into the earth splinter than dragon.

For the card stats, he only has two abilities,the fairly-new armored strike and last stand. Zebajin's strongest aspect is health. It gets a 50% buff when last stand activates, making him a good backline wall. But his offensive is a bit lacking for me. Having 2 magic and 2 armored strike damage rating is not that high, in my opinion.

I'm not too sure what are good combinations for Zebajin is yet. I want to say Queen Mycelia would be good because it increases armored strike's damage output, but I'd have to place him in the backline if I want to count on the last stand. And Queen Mycelia's armor buff only lasts while she is still alive. For something a bit more permanent, Fungus Flinger's martyr ability would be a good combination instead.

Market Stats

Zebajin is one of the more cheaper Rebellion legendaries. It's currently trading at a floor price of $5 and the highest bid is just at $3.7

And since I don't have the budget to own a max level yet, going for rentals to try him out is the way to go. I got him for 12 cents a day, which is quite costly compared to Chaos Legion rentals.

Shared Battle

It's to put Zebajin to the test. My shared battle is a 43-mana silver rank match with melee mayhem and odd ones out rule sets. You can check the full battle here.

Unlike in wild where battles are sometimes a walk in the part, transitioning to modern can be challenging as I can encounter players that have max level cards even in silver. The opponent brought out dragon powerhouses like Agor Longtail and Carnage Titan, capitalizing on the melee mayhem rule set. I also thought this was a good opportunity to test out Zebajin since armored strike is also considered melee so it can be utilized even at the backline.

It took a long succession of back and forth action before the game saw its first casualty. The opponent's taunt monster, Agor Longtail, went down at the second round, leaving Void Dragon exposed to all incoming attacks.

I think my biggest advantage here is that I brought Disintegrator into the mix. Considering the remaining health of Pelacor Mercenary and Mycelic Slipspawn, they would have been dead already at this point if not for the enemy melee damage reduction. And it also helps that Pelacor Mercenary has that self-heal.

The final enemy monster, Venka the Vile, is defeated at the fourth round. I survived the game with zero casualties. I haven't really used Zebajin's full potential in these game, but having two different attack types can be beneficial in certain scenarios. I'm looking forward to exploring more of his capabilities while playing in the modern format.
