Nor am I Cinderella that some prince will come looking for me with glass sandals.

نہ ہی میں سنڈریلا ہوں کہ کوئی شہزادہ شیشے کی سینڈل لے کر مجھے ڈھونڈتا آئے گا۔
ہاں لیکن اگر آپ گھنٹی بجا کر کسی کے گھر آئیں گے تو گھر کا مالک میرے گھر شکایت کرنے ضرور آئے گا۔
مجھے شرم نہیں آتی کہ کوئی دنیا سکندر مجھے سفید پھول دے
ہاں مگر صبح ہوتے ہی ماں ہاتھ میں گیند پکڑتی ہے اور کہنا نہیں بھولتی (روٹی کو گول گھماتے ہوئے)۔
نہ میں امامہ ہوں کہ کوئی سالار سکندر مجھے اپنی جائیداد بیچ کر کہے کہ تمہارے ہاتھ میں آنے کے بعد قیمتی ہو گئی ہے۔
میں ایک عام سی لڑکی ہوں، میری ماں میرے ہاتھ میں جھاڑو دیتے ہوئے کہتی ہے کہ لڑکیاں تب ہی اچھی لگتی ہیں جب وہ کام کرتی ہوں۔
نہ ہی میں ضمیر یوسف جیسا مضبوط ہوں جو ہر طوفان کا مقابلہ کرتا ہے۔
اگر میں کسی کمرے میں چھپکلی دیکھتا ہوں تو وہ اس کمرے میں واپس نہیں آتی۔
اور مجھے یقین نہیں ہے کہ اگر میں مر گیا تو میرا ضمیر میری موت پر ردعمل ظاہر کرے گا۔
میں ایک عام سی لڑکی ہوں، یہاں مرنے کی بات کرو تو دوست پوچھتے ہیں (چکن بریانی ضرور ہو گی)۔
ایسا نہیں ہے کہ میں خواب نہیں دیکھتا لیکن حقیقت میں جینا اچھا لگتا ہے۔ میں ایک عام سی لڑکی ہوں لیکن اپنے لیے خاص ہوں۔ ***
