The story of Tsnaks

I have been playing Splinterlands since the game released. My "Battling since" shows May 2018. I was 16 years old when I started playing the game and now I'm 20 years old, so in May 2023 I have officially played Splinterlands for quarter of my whole life. I started off putting money into the game that I earned from blogging on Steem platfrom and when I the battling system was introduced to us I stopped putting money into the game and only relied on earning from playing the game itself. I can't remember when exactly it happened but when my account value first hit $1,000 I told about the game to my parents (I was still underaged then) and my parents wanted me to stop playing the game, because they thought I was involved in a scam or an illegal activity. I kept playing the game in secret from my parents and when I reached $10,000 account value (Remember I had put no money into the game other than what I earned from blogging) I made my first cashout (around 200$-300$) and showed my parents that I had kept on playing and that the money was real. Having seen that it's probably not a scam and that the money is real my parents were very proud of me and now encouraged me to see where I can take this whole Play to earn thing. Also everytime I went behind the computer they said jokingly that "Look our son is going to work" :D . I kept on grinding the game and my parents and friends all were telling me to cashout, because they didn't believe that this game could last for a long period of time. I myself couldn't cashout any of my cards because I got too attatched to them. When the bull market started coming and BTC was around 50k, my collection value jumped to $30,000 and then my friends also wanted to start playing, because I was telling them everyday about how much money this game has made me. I got 6 friends to play the game, but only 1 of them stuck around and is still playing to this day (I helped all of them with delegating cards for free and buying them spellbooks). At the peak when my collection value hit $130,000 I cashed out a little bit to buy me and my friends over $500 vacation trip which was super fun and it felt so out of place being 19 years old and having a chance to spend $500 on a vacation for me and my friends. Currently I'm loving the game and I don't see myself leaving Splinterlands anytime soon, this game has been a daily routine for 1/4 of my whole life and I've enjoyed every day of it.

Bonus:

  • From mystery potions I pulled all of the 3 different super rare Legendaries (I sold PJ for around $250 and Mighty dricken for around $170, but I still have my Archmage Arius)
  • Very long time ago I applied for a writers competition in Splinterlands discord and I still have the rank to prove it

  • I have made a lot of blog posts about splinterlands that are either informative, just interesting fun things about my journey or giveaways.
  • Currently my collection value is sitting around $30,000
  • I joined splinterlands discord very late (in June) because I hated discord as a platform back then
  • My name "tsnaks" is pronounced T-Snacks read: (Tee Snacks)
  • I'm from Estonia

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed my story.

Awesome stuff, its great that you were able to take a vacation with play2earn money. I look forward to doing the same thing the day I cashout. Like you, I'll likely never fully stop playing Splinterlands. Here's to the next bull run.

Cheers,

Thanks T-snacks for sharing this story. I kind off like related to every play2earn gamer life and I feel connected with the story. I hope it encourages other play2earn gamers too.
