$200 of Deck Value

I haven’t done any giveaways for a while as I was pouring everything I could into increasing my Collection Power before the launch of Modern Format. With the new timeline shared by the team recently, I feel confident that I will be able to reach my goal of 35k CP-owned by the time Modern Format is introduced. This will allow me to compete in Silver I without any rentals if the development team sticks to their plan of halving the CP requirement for each league.

At this stage of the season, after completing my main purchases, I can now give back a bit to the community. Having just crossed the $200 mark of Deck Value, I felt that this was a good pretext to run a 200 DEC giveaway. However, before that, I would like to share with you a few numbers. Among those $200, 85% was grown organically, which means that only 15% was money I directly injected into buying cards. Thus, growing without much is possible.

That being said, I have been now playing for 160 days. Then if we divide $200 by the number of days I played, we end up with an astonishing $1.25 per day! Whoah, if we’re in exclusively for the money, this would be extremely discouraging. We can play with the numbers all day long, but while 85% organic growth sounds great, the dollar value is simply not here to back it up. So, why do I keep playing even though I’ve seen most of the players I know quit? I don’t really know myself beside the fact that I still have faith in the development team.

This low daily return encouraged me to search for a brighter way of looking at it.
It led me to the following question:

How many people in the world are living on 1 single dollar per day?

You might be surprised by the answer.
I’m giving you a few seconds to come up with your own guess.
When I saw the number, it was truly humbling.

The number is one billion people! One Billion People! By pure luck, I am not one of those individuals, but knowing that a game could theoretically generate enough revenue for so many people to survive in this world completely shifted the way I was looking at my daily profit of $1.25.

Sure enough, even though I do have a frugal lifestyle, this small amount of money does not cover any of my expenses. Therefore, as long as I have faith in the appreciation of my assets, I’ll be willing to keep building within the ecosystem. Otherwise, this game will unfortunately not be worth my time.

So far, I’ve been giving a taste of the, sometimes elusive, snowball effect that all the OGs of this game are talking about. Two months ago, my progression rate would have only allowed me to reach 15k CP around October 2022. Today, I already have double that amount in terms of Collection Power. The only way I was able to generate enough earnings to reinvest into the game was through my posts. So, thank you all for stopping by!
