Introducing Scavo Firebolt

At the base level, Scavo Firebolt is identical to its Water counterpart, Kulu Swimhunter. The latter was even highlighted in a Share Your Battle recently.

Nevertheless, they begin to differ once they level up. Scavo Firebolt gets its third attack at Level 4 (Silver eligible), while Kulu Swimhunter only gets it at Level 6 (Gold eligible).

Moreover, at Level 6, Scavo Firebolt unlocks the ability Knock-Out that could potentially synergize well with a few Fire Monsters that do offer the Stun ability.

Leaderboard Domination

As we’ve seen several times in my past Share Your Battle analyses, Legendary Summoners usually dominate the Top Battles in any league.

One, in particular, is ubiquitous: Yodin Zaku.

I don’t have any of those Untamed Legendary Summoners, so the next best thing I can do is to enjoy the Top Battles from other players.

Saving Up for Legendary Summoners

The above observation made me think about how I could increase the quality of my deck in the most cost-effective way possible. This led me to currently value purchasing the coming Chaos Legion Legendary Summoners over leveling up one of my Splinters for the same amount of money.

To do so, I've started to put some tokens aside in order to eventually acquire a copy of each of those future Legendary Summoners from the Chaos Legion set once they airdrop. If recent history repeats itself, I might even get all of them for half the price of a Yodin Zaku according to OG players.

The Right Summoner in the Right Context

In this battle, Yodin Zaku had a huge advantage over the Byzantine Kitty.

YODIN ZAKU

The Blast ability bestowed to every friendly monster was tremendously useful to get rid of the Divine Shield provided by the Holy Protection ruleset.

With each hit, Yodin’s team could negate up to three Divine Shield at once. On the other hand, Kitty’s lineup could only remove one Divine Shield at a time.

A Strategic Mistake?

First and foremost, winning against Yodin Zaku in this configuration seemed to be extremely difficult. Thus, no matter what lineup was put in place, without a Yodin, the outcome most probably wouldn’t have changed.

That being said, I was a bit surprised to see that the attacks of Kitty’s team were spread out to this extent; one Reach monster, one Snipe monster, and one Sneak monster.

Concentrating all the firepower on one single target is usually more effective in the Holy Protection ruleset because otherwise, we might end up inflicting almost no damage in the 1st Round.

In this instance, Yodin already went through a third of the opposite team by Round 2.

Offsetting the Kitty Speed Buff

One of the Byzantine Kitty’s buffs is the +2 Speed. This might have helped the team to be slightly more evasive. Nonetheless, Yodin’s lineup seemed to have an answer to this Speed buff as well.

Goblin Shaman’s Slow ability combined with the Supply Runner’s Swiftness, rebalanced the speed of every monster on the field offsetting the Kitty's Speed buff.

To make matter worse, Doctor Blight unsuccessfully cast its Affliction on Cerberus, which was the one protecting Yodin’s Ranged units armada.

Scavo Firebolt, Small yet Strong

The Scavo Firebolt present on the field was at Level 4, so it already had its third attack. The +1 Ranged attack buff from Yodin gave it another extra attack.

Then, on top of that, the blast ability allowed it to hit for 6 per turn even though, Scavo Firebolt is only a 4 Mana cost unit! In fact, it was inflicting 4 damage to the opposite tank and 2 other damage to the off-tank.

In Conclusion

Being able to count on the right Summoner in the right context often stacks up the odds in one’s favor. In this battle, Yodin’s buffs unleashed their full potential while Kitty’s buffs got countered in many ways.

To be fair, I can’t wait for the Reflection Shield to get introduced in the game to help us counter Yodin.

See you in the next challenge!
