Sinking Deeplurker INTO THE DEEP, got lucky! [Share your battle - SPLINTERLANDS]

Rulesets: Earthquake + Heavy Hitters
Mana Cap: 24
League: Silver II

In the Earthquake ruleset, my first instinct is often to simply go with Brighton Bloom and her Flying ability.

In this battle, however, I wasn't allowed to run the Dragon splinter. So, I had to either count on flying monsters or more shields; both would even be better.

Logically, the battlefield ended up filled with mostly flying monsters from both sides. The only one truly affected by the Earthquake was... Deeplurker.

Sea Monster's heal would offset the damage from this ruleset while the others were all up in the sky.

My thinking going into this battle

I went with the Life splinter and a lineup fully composed of flying monsters. This kind of simplistic strategy doesn't always work out, to say the least.

Nevertheless, I passed on Kelya Frendul's Shield as I felt I couldn't match the opposition's waterpower. The Earthquake damage would have to help out.

Round 1

After the first round, I wasn't doing well. The Furious Chicken absorbed Deeplurker's opportunity attack but in the front, Pelacor Conjurer was quickly knocked out by Sea Monster.

Round 2

The first miss of Deeplurker against Celestial Harpy allowed her to take over Ice Pixie. This was the first upturn. In the front line, Luminous Eagle was holding the ground with 1 health point.

Round 3

The second miss of Deeplurker against Luminous Eagle put it into trouble as my monsters' life-power were all concentred on sinking Deeplurker.

Round 4

Deeplurker out of the way, my lineup quickly got the upper hand to finish up that battle.

Checking if I got lucky

I felt I got lucky in this battle, so I went on checking the probabilities of winning at Splintertools.io.

By predicting the outcome several times, the winning rate was fluctuating between 32% and 56%.

Put simply, out of 100 identical battles, I would have lost more than I would have won with this same configuration.
