SPLINTERLANDS: A COMPARISON of the 1 MANA cost monsters - feat. Carrion Shade! [Share Your Battle]
The New 1 Mana Cost Monsters
Carrion Shade is part of this new Chaos Legion’s set of 1 mana cards. I found those cards quite interesting because of the abilities they gain at level 3, except for Hardy Stonefish. From a CP/DEC standpoint, the Gold Foil version of these cards represents great value for money.
To begin with, they add 125 CP each, which is always good to take. They offer a 10% bonus per win. They are also affordable with current costs varying between 270 and 310 DEC. And finally, on top of all that, they almost all come with an extra ability just by getting one Gold Foil copy.
In fact, as Common cards, the Gold Foils propels them directly to level 3. And you’ve guessed it, I’ve purchased a Gold Foil version of all of them as soon as I could for all the reasons I’ve just mentioned above. Radiated Scorcher with Shatter and the Thorns of Mycelic Morphoid have already come in handy more than once.
Carrion Shade, the New Cursed Slimeball?
At level 1, Carrion Shade comes with one more speed and one more health than Cursed Slimeball, which makes it a slightly better version for players using both of the cards at their base-level.
Still, we should notice that Cursed Slimeball gets Redemption at level 6 (available in Gold leagues and above), which seems to be a powerful ability for a 1 mana cost monster.
Carrion Shade or Chaos Agent?
When I have only one mana left while running the Death splinter, I always hesitate between Carrion Shade and Chaos Agent. At levels 2 and 3, they respectively get an ability that allows them to increase misses from the opposition. Chaos Agent gets Dodge at level 2 while Carrion Shade gets Flying at level 3.
I usually prefer Dodge as it will always offer the 25% dodge chance no matter which monsters it encounters. Flying however might lose its advantage while facing other Flying (or Snare) monsters. That being said, Carrion Shade comes with a Melee Attack, which is often overlooked but still comes in handy from time to time.
Note:
Chaos Agent is a little bit more expensive compared to the other 1 mana cost monsters as it is a Neutral gaining an additional ability at level 2 (current price: 660 DEC).
The Battle
Rulesets: Target Practice + Healed Out
Mana Cap: 23
League: Silver I
In this battle, I’ve decided to go with both, Carrion Shade and Cursed Slimeball. One at the back to absorb any sneak attack and the other one to absorb a potential opportunity attack.
Within the Target Practice ruleset, I chose Magi Necrosi to take advantage of its Camouflage ability. So, the only monster really susceptible of being sniped was the Furious Chicken.
Then, my go-to cards when running the Death Splinter, Cursed Windeku and Silent Sha-vi, completed my lineup. They are both powerful monsters with great abilities that I can seldom do without.
In the end, the three decoys against Snipe (Furious Chicken), Sneak (Cursed Slimeball), and Opportunity (Carrion Shade) attack bought enough time to the carry monsters for defeating the opposition.

Hello @cieliss ,
Thank you for your recommendation.
Could I ask what you mean by a presentation though? Is it writing a post introducing myself to the community? Thank you in advance for your feedback! Thomas
Yes, as it is. Make a presentation either in OCD or in community, of your preference, don't forget to use the hashtag #introduceyourself for better visualization.
