HBD: Hive Backed Dollar

The task of converting HBD into DEC is actually really simple once you find out the (right) way of doing it. However, unless I am unaware of it, there is no straightforward way of doing it directly through PeakD.

Note: Feel free to let me know if there is actually any way of converting HBD into DEC within the PeakD website.

Multiple tokens

When we blog simultaneously on Splintertalk, 1Up, and PeakD, we are able to collect at least three different tokens (SPT, 1Up, and HBD) for each of our posts. This is awesome as it multiples our gains. The only thing we have to do is manage those tokens independently, which is not really an issue.

Playing exclusively Splinterlands, the following is my simplistic strategy with each of the three tokens to help me progress as effectively as possible within the game.

SPT
I stake SPT to maximize my daily SPS airdrop points.

HBD
I convert HBD into DEC to buy cards and buff up my Collection Power.

1Up
I convert my 1Up tokens into DEC to cover my daily rent.

The 1Up tokens we earn are automatically sent to our Hive Tokens wallet, which is directly accessible on Tribaldex. HBD, however, requires one additional step. For a few days, I couldn't understand why that HBD would show up in my Hive wallet but not on Tribaldex, which made it impossible to convert into DEC.

What NOT to do...

Yesterday, I wasted around $2.50 in unnecessary conversions. Scrolling through PeakD, I thought the only way of getting DEC was, first converting HBD into one of the major cryptocurrencies through Bittrex, sending this crypto to Tribaldex, and then converting it into DEC. Nop, that's definitely NOT the way to go!

How to ACTUALLY do it!

I manage my funds on mobile but the process should be identical on desktop.

Step 1:

Log in on Tribaldex.

Step 2.

Go to your Wallet.

Step3:

Tap on "Deposit" and select the "HBD" token.

Step 4:

You should get an "Account" name and a "Memo" to transfer your HBD to Tribaldex.

CAVEAT: Don't use the info on the screenshot above unless you are feeling extremely generous today! ;)

Step 5:

Go to your Hive Keychain Wallet.
I personally use the app.

Step 6:

Tap on the HBD tab and choose "Transfer Funds".

Step 7:

Enter the requested info you got in Step 4 (Username = Account).

CAVEAT: Even though it is written that the Memo is "Optional", it's actually NOT. Make sure to fill in the right info.

Step 8:

Double-check your info before sending!

After a few seconds, you should be able to see your freshly transferred HBD in your Tribaldex Wallet under the name SWAP.HBD.
