SPS Promo Card: Added Usecase & Reward for Staking SPS

Freedom is a fundamental human right and we can say that freedom to lend a voice on governance is priceless especially in an age where democracy is popular. Hive blockchain, though a virtual world prides itself in the toll of blockchains as a leader on true decentralization and DAO governance in it's main and auxiliary layers. Today, several communities building their unique products on hive are also practicing DAO at layer 1 and 2 giving each community member the right of participation in decision making.

Multiple Usecases for Splintershards (SPS)

The Splinterlands community is one of such with a robust DAO governance powered by the Splintershards (SPS) token. Today, SPS has become a key asset in the Splinterlands ecosystem covering battle, sports game genres as well as others that would be unveiled in the future.

SPS does not just serve as a governance token, it is also a reward token for airdrops, DeFi token and gameplay rewards (GameFi token). On daily basis, more usecases are added to the SPS token thereby building it's potentials for tbr future in value and demand.

Staking is Better!

SPS can be held as liquid in wallet for arbitrage profits, staked in hive engine for DeFi participation, staked in the SPS engine for staking rewards and can be staked in-game for participation in DAO governance voting. Of those various functions, it is obvious that staking SPS is better with more benefits.

Weeks ago, a community-initiated proposal system was created allowing users/players to create a proposal to make certain adjustments in the game and vote same for game team's action. The first SPS governance community proposal which sought for the design and distribution of reward card for players staking SPS was passed.

The passed proposal mandated the Splinterlands team to design such card today, the first Staked SPS Promo card was unveiled. Incredible! This is another big win for the Splinterlands game which points to sustainability and will sure draw more players and investors to the game and the hive blockchain in general.

Behold the Staked SPS Promo Card!

The first Staked SPS Promo card known as VRUZ is not your regular. It is a unique card design with just 2 manna but with amazing stats that would be interesting in battles. The card can only be purchased by Splinterlands players who stake SPS in the game.

Sale of VRUZ is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023 after a snapshot of the amount of staked SPS held in each account at that time is taken. According to the announcement, each player will have the option to purchase one 1 BCX Vruz card for each 1000 staked SPS they have in their account at the time of the snapshot.

Creating an added Usecase for VOUCHER token

The SPS Promo card would be purchased with the VOUCHER token and all of the VOUCHERs pooled from the purchase would be burned. Really an amazing usecase for the VOUCHER token.

Each card purchased will also have a cost of 1 VOUCHER token, which will be burned. A player with 100,943 staked SPS in their account at the time of the snapshot, for example, will be eligible to purchase up to 100 Vruz cards. Each Vruz card purchased will also have a 4% (1 in 25) chance of being a Gold Foil version of the card, and players will be guaranteed to receive at least one Gold Foil version of the card for each 25 cards that are purchased in a single transaction. source

Stake More SPS, Own more VRUZ

I am happy about the development and decided to stake some more SPS token to level up my total stake ahead of the account screenshot. My 2023 goal for Staked SPS was 5k, but this development would have me exceed that goal because more of this similar adventures would happen.

Staking additional 252 SPS

That brings my total SPS stake to 3,000. That would qualify me to purchase 3 VRUZ card.

Three VRUZ won't be Enough for me

Promo cards on Splinterlands are special cards and are full of potentials since they are only minted for a purpose and for a short time. VRUZ would be purchasable in the market for just 7 days after which, one may not have the opportunity to buy that particular card again. That pitches it for scarcity.

I think that 3 VRUZ wouldn't be enough for me and it's sweeter to earn and not buy it in the market. This would create some more demand for SPS. Not just for me, I'm certain many players would have to level up their SPS stake to be able to get more VRUZ card.

It's exciting this added reward for staked SPS. I see a new demand curve for the SPS token emerge and this would bring us closer to a bullish SPS.
