Battle Mage Secrets: Healed Out - Sorry, No Doctor

Prelude
Hello everybody, how is it going? It's time for more Battle Mage Secrets. Last week's sharing was a showcase of the awesome range attack cards that we have and how to use them effectively for the battles. This week the ruleset that will be discussed will be on how to survive without doctors (Tank Healers, Self Healers and Backline Healers).

The ruleset of the challenge this week is: Healed Out

Ruleset Spotlight

Healed Out
All healing abilities are removed.
Healing abilities include Heal, Tank Heal, and Triage.
Same effect applies to summoners whom give these abilities.

Abilities/Cards that get shutdown with this rule set
The ruleset itself already stated which abilities will get shut down. In a very simple terms, strictly no healing of any form. All the amazing healing monsters will be stripped of the healing abilities such as Sea Monster, Haunt Spirit, Cerebus, Flesh Golem, Quora, Cornealus etc. No more tank heal and triage, with the likes of Goblin Psychic, Wood Nymph, Meerdali Guardian, Venari Crystalsmith, Spirit Hoarder and Angelic Mandarin. Such a big list of cards that become normal cards unless the possess other abilities.

What thrives with this ruleset?
Without doctor/healer, we are on our own. This means that every health stat become very important. No longer we have heals to help us sustain the lineup, so as such, abilities that gives protection, reduces attack/damage and reflective damage are key to these battles with high dodge rate another good consideration.

Protect/Damage Reduction
The +2 armour given from this ability helps the lineup to sustain longer on the field before being exposed to damage on health itself. Another form of protect is through damage reduction which comes in the form of Void and Shield. These 2 abilities take care of magic and melee/range respectively to reduce the damage impact.

Attack Reduction
This comes in the form of reducing attacks coming from the source itself. Demoralize for Melee, Headwinds for Range and Silence for Magic.

Reflective
If you are going to take damage, why not let your opponent feel the pain as well? Consider having abilities like Thorns, Return Fire and Magic Reflect. So while your opponent is inflicting damage to you, you reflect it back to reduce their health for you to take them out easily.

Dodging
This is another good way to avoid damage. Since every health is precious, use abilities such as Flying, Dodge or Phase to avoid damage landing on them. Another thing to consider will be Swiftness which improve overall speed of the lineup.

Stats consideration for this ruleset is simple. High armour, high health and high speed.

Prediction before pressing rumble
Unfortunately this is a brawl match and my fray only allowed cards up to level 1 and therefore my Oshannus did not have its Phase ability with it. And from the looks of it, my opponent opted for a heavier range attack lineup as compared to my magic lineup.

Battle Synopsis

Round 1, Uneventful round 1 with mainly attacks slamming onto the front tanks.

Round 2, Both tanks fell but mine got resurrected due to River Hellondale's skill. However, opponent Edith Emberstar gotten the Blood Lust for killing Baakjira.

Round 3, Resurrected Baakira fell while I continued my barrage on my opponent's Djinn Oshannus while taking out Flying Squid.

Round 4, Yikes, my Oshannus while being able to stand off with my opponent's copy fell to Edith's big range attack and further boosted it. Swamp Spitter landing a final hit onto opponent's Oshannus and took it out.

Round 5, This is a round where it becomes irritating to hit a sitting duck with high speed while taking backline damage. No casualties yet for this round.

Round 6-9, All efforts to take down the remaining big 3 heavy range attacker. Nerissa got taken out due to a snipe but all in all River Hellondale, my own Edith and Swamp Spitter finished the job and cleared all the range hitters. Victory secured.

Post Battle Summary
A very nice match I would say. To be frank, I got rather worried when I saw my opponent's Edith grow twice into Blood Lust. It was very intimidating as it can deal serious damage to any of my card. However, we turned things around and secured the victory.

Did my strategy work? Yes, I am glad that my strategy and selection contain all the necessary abilities to help bring the victory back. Baakjira was instrumental in slowing opponent down and using void to sustain magic damage from Oshannus. My own Oshannus having high speed and Void also bring more sustaining. River Hellondale's resurrection was important to buy more time for the team. The remaining 3 in the lineup were damage dealers with Swamp Spitter doing repair of armour to handle the range attack from my opponent.

What's the Battle Mage Secret?
Without healing, time is essence. Speed, protect is what I have covered in the earlier segments. However, there were 2 additional ability that turned the game even when we saw opponent's Gladius card growing 2 times on Blood Lust and this is the secret that I want to share. Since we cannot heal, we Resurrect and Repair. Resurrect buys time by bring back one card, it can come in the form of a tank which has high armour or even a Martyr card that further boost the stats of other cards in the lineup. A planned resurrection will go an even longer way to time the Martyr or even created another meat shield for your opponent to take down. Next will be Repair. No healing? Repair the armour, it will function like healing as repair will regenerate it. This is exceptionally critical when we are facing heavy melee or range lineups. That extra Repair will come in handy and help the lineup survive longer even in the absence of a healer.
