El día de hoy quiero compartirles mi participación para el concurso de arte semanal de @splinterlands . Para el dibujo de esta semana he decidido hacer al personaje BRIGHTON BLOOM.

Elegí este personaje porque me gustó su diseño y me llamó la atención la primera vez que vi la carta. Al leer la historia me di cuenta de que Brighton es hombre, lo cuál me sorprendió mucho porque no me di cuenta de que tiene barba, ese detalle no cambió mi intención de dibujar al personaje, así que seguí con la idea de hacerlo, pero lo que sí cambié fue el hecho de que lo hice mujer jajaja.

Decidí hacerlo mujer porque creo que es más acorde con la ropa que lleva y quedaría mejor con mi interpretación. Así que ¡vamos a ello!

• Today I want to share with you my participation for the Splinterlands weekly art contest. For this week's drawing I decided to do the character BRIGHTON BLOOM.

• I chose this character because I liked his design and it caught my attention the first time I saw the card. When I read the story I realized that Brighton is a man, which surprised me a lot because I didn't realize that he has a beard, that detail didn't change my intention to draw the character, so I kept with the idea of doing it, but what I did change was the fact that I made him a woman hahaha.

• I decided to make him female because I think it's more in line with the clothes he's wearing and it would look better with my interpretation. So let's get to it!

Para empezar lo primero que hice fue el boceto, pero antes de obtener el boceto final tuve que hacer algunos bocetos previos para tener alguna noción de lo que quería hacer. Mi idea principal era hacer a un colibrí gigante al lado de Brighton, así que con esa idea en mente hice algunos bocetos, el primer boceto es del personaje principal montado en la espalda del colibrí, el segundo es el personaje y el colibrí al lado y ambos personajes tenían una pose de acción, el tercero ya tenía algo de lo que quería, en este caso hice al colibrí atrás en una pose más estática y armoniosa y delante de el hice al personaje jugando con algunos colibríes. Esa idea me llevó al último boceto sucio, el cuál hice al colibrí atrás, posando en un tronco y a la niña sentada en otro tronco, conservé la misma pose de manos que tenía la niña en el tercer boceto y después le agregué algunos detalles extras al fondo.

• To start with the first thing I did was the sketch, but before getting the final sketch I had to do some preliminary sketches to have some notion of what I wanted to do. My main idea was to make a giant hummingbird next to Brighton, so with that idea in mind I made some sketches, the first sketch is of the main character riding on the hummingbird's back, the second one is the character and the hummingbird next to him and both characters had an action pose, the third one already had something of what I wanted, in this case I made the hummingbird in the back in a more static and harmonious pose and in front of him I made the character playing with some hummingbirds. That idea led me to the last dirty sketch, which I made the hummingbird in the back, posing on a trunk and the girl sitting on another trunk, I kept the same pose of hands that the girl had in the third sketch and then I added some extra details to the background.

Una vez que hice el boceto procedí a realizar el estudio de color, normalmente se recomienda que el estudio de color se haga en capas separadas, coloreado una por una la zona que desea, pero a mí no me gusta hacer eso, pierdo mucho tiempo y pienso que es agrupar capas innecesariamente. Mi manera de aplicar los colores es algo más espontánea, trato de tener una idea de los colores que quiero y trabajar con ellos, en principio los colores que quería usar eran verdes y marrones, pero conforme fui avanzando agregué algunos colores como azules, amarillos y rosados, esos colores eran tanto para el fondo como para los personajes. Es más divertido experimentar con los colores y aplicarlos en una sola capa.

• Once I made the sketch I proceeded to make the color study, normally it is recommended that the color study is done in separate layers, coloring one by one the area you want, but I don't like to do that, I lose a lot of time and I think it is grouping layers unnecessarily. My way of applying colors is a bit more spontaneous, I try to have an idea of the colors I want and work with them, at first the colors I wanted to use were greens and browns, but as I progressed I added some colors like blues, yellows and pinks, those colors were for the background as well as for the characters. It's more fun to experiment with colors and apply them in one layer.

Una vez que tenía el estudio de color hecho, procedí a colorear el fondo del dibujo. Para ello empecé por los troncos que están atrás del colibrí gigante, en esta ocasión probé colorear los troncos de manera diferente, así que me demoré un poco en toda esta parte, también coloreé algunas partes del tronco donde está sentada la niña porque estaba practicando un poco el coloreado. Una vez que coloreé los troncos de atrás procedí a colorear los demás, pero antes decidí hacer algunas correcciones en el dibujo. Una vez que realicé las correcciones procedí a colorear el tronco donde está el colibrí gigante, también coloreé las hojas usando la herramienta lazo, esta técnica es nueva para mí, pero créanme cuando les digo que quedé encantado con el resultado. Por último coloreé el tronco principal, también con sus respectivas hojas y lianas.

• Once I had the color study done, I proceeded to color the background of the drawing. For this I started with the trunks that are behind the giant hummingbird, this time I tried to color the trunks in a different way, so I took a little bit of time in this part, I also colored some parts of the trunk where the girl is sitting because I was practicing a little bit the coloring. Once I colored the back trunks I proceeded to color the others, but first I decided to make some corrections in the drawing. Once I made the corrections I proceeded to color the trunk where the giant hummingbird is, I also colored the leaves using the lasso tool, this technique is new to me, but believe me when I tell you that I was delighted with the result. Finally I colored the main trunk, also with its respective leaves and vines.

Para terminar coloreé a los personajes. Primero empecé por el colibrí gigante, debo decir que es primera vez que hago uno, por ende tengo que mejorar bastante, pero basados en el estudio previo que hice acerca de esta especie, debo decir que estoy muy contento con mi primer intento, pero igual debo seguir haciendo estudios y practicando más. Me gustó la forma en la que hice las alas y plumas, también utilicé la herramienta de lazo para darle forma a las puntas y así guiarme un poco mejor. Luego de colorear al colibrí gigante procedí a colorear a los otros colibríes y a los dos amigos hongos, ya que estamos en otoño decidí agregar algunos personajes con forma de hongos para aprovechar la ocasión.

Para finalizar coloreé a Brighton, su coloreado fue algo rápido porque aquí no cambié nada, solo coloreé igual que siempre, fue divertido hacer el cabello y la ropa, siempre es agradable colorear ropa diferente a la que suelo hacer y me sirve mucho de práctica.

• To finish I colored the characters. First I started with the giant hummingbird, I must say that it's the first time I do one, so I have to improve a lot, but based on the previous study I did about this species, I must say that I'm very happy with my first attempt, but I still have to keep doing studies and practicing more. I liked the way I did the wings and feathers, I also used the lasso tool to shape the tips to guide me a little better. After coloring the giant hummingbird I proceeded to color the other hummingbirds and the two mushroom friends, since we are in autumn I decided to add some mushroom shaped characters to take advantage of the occasion.

• To finish I colored Brighton, his coloring was something fast because here I didn't change anything, I just colored the same as always, it was fun to do the hair and the clothes, it is always nice to color different clothes than I usually do and it serves me a lot of practice.
