New Max Level Cards, Investing in SPS and Early Preparation for The Next Bear Market | Splinter Stats Season 42 Report

(Edited)

I have managed to get multiple Reward Cards to Max Level. This is the first time in the game I have been able to do this consistently. I bought two Promo Cards and I have a Max Level Lorn Arianthus. Rest of the Max Level Cards are all from the current set of Soulbound Cards that will be around for few more months.

I do not know if I would be able to take all the Cards to the Max Level. I could sell some of the excess Cards I have or use them on Land. Sorriel The Bale has is stuck at Level 1. The other Cards are at least at Silver League Level. The best part about seeing a Soulbound Cards is that I know that these players earned it. There is no way to transfer them or sell them.

When new abilities come to these Cards, the ones who would reap most of the benefits would be the people who are actively playing the game. Those who own and NFT could do that out of pure speculation. Some of them may do it because they like to collect things. The hype for speculation can easily take a nose dive. The "Collectors" are not large in numbers and I do not think they will spend more than a fraction of their discretionary spending.

It is the hardcore players that are going to be the biggest HODLers of a gameplay asset. These are the best type of investors to have. Having the intrinsic motivation and gameplay utility can be one of the best methods to create price stability in a bear market. We have to care about the next bear market while we have the luxury of not being desperate. We must not repeat what we went through during the later parts of 2023.

This was a fairly good Season. I have been having some trouble advancing after the new system was implemented for Ranked Battles. The only major concern that I have for myself is the Ranked Ratio of 0.8 which means I won only 4/9 Battles. This is an area in need of improvement.

Imperial Knight is the latest among the Max Level Cards in my Collection. There is a many Level 7 Common Cards and a few Level 7 Rare Cards that are waiting to be at Max Level. Over the course of next few Season I will be able to get them to Max Level and be far more comfortable with Battles.

There is no more limits to which Cards can be used in each League apart from the Battle Rules. I can use the best of my Summoners and Monsters even while I am stuck in Gold League. This is a good good thing for gameplay IMO. The directions offered to a new player is very simple. They should get the best Cards and move up as high as they can with their Rating. This is a simple and focused way that can help the prices of Cards and eventually other asset.

I don't have enough funds to invest heavily into the Cards. If I have some Cards with a lower Level left even after filling up my Land Plots in Praetoria, I can have them Rented out. The current problem of low prices can be improved by increasing the number of active players.

I have already been thinking about how I would handle the end of the current bull market. One of the biggest mistakes I have done in my trading life is not taking enough profits at the market top. It is hard to keep the portfolio value up when the entire market is going down. Even if I switch to a better performing asset, being in a market that is going to fall over 90% is not a smart way to manage finances.

This is when the gameplay utility of SPS comes into play. I want to keep my Reward Multiplier at least at 10X while I am in Diamond League. Ranked Battle Overhaul may have an impact on where I will end up during the ongoing Season. Having 100K SPS should be more than enough IMHO (even if I join Soulkeep gameplay). The problem is that there will hardly be enough SPS to Power Down if I want to HODL 100K SPS through the bear market.

The unstaking time is 4 weeks long. If the SPS price starts going parabolic towards the end of the year or somewhere in 2025, I think it would be best to Power Down to 80K SPS or even a little lower. The worst time to sell is close to a market bottom. It is better to take profits too early and the wait in $HBD to earn interest. In fact one of the best things players can do is to embrace HBD during the heights of the market and use the 20% APR to buy more Cards, SPS and other assets.

The short version of the overall goal is to have a period of ~2 years where I do not sell any substantial amount of cryptocurrency or NFTs. That is the aim for the bull market; prepare to shrug off the next bear market! It is an aim other project developers should aim for. For an example, @leofinance has advertising revenue + Premium subscription. @ecency has Ecency Points as a revenue stream. We have to think more ways to generate revenue and make users HODL assets by providing utility.

The ultimate end should be to become less correlated to $BTC cycles. $HIVE is doing something completely different with vastly different Tokenomics (follow @dalz for statistics on HIVE inflation). Different cryptocurrency niches should follow their own cycles and providing real world utility and focusing on games is one of the best ways to achieve that.
