Personaje inspirado en las estrellas _ Wara Cholito || Character inspired by the stars

El universo de las estrellas era un tema desconocido para mí hasta hoy. Desde niños escuchamos innumerables historias, fábulas, mitos y leyendas sobre las estrellas. Incluso, hay canciones relacionadas al poder que tienen estas y quienes la ven.

Otro significado que se le da es como objeto decorativo de gran valor. También los hay en los video juegos. Un claro ejemplo es Mario Bros. Por otro lado, las plataformas virtuales y aplicaciones usan estrellas como parte de la calificación que les dan los usuarios, para medir la calidad del producto o servicio brindado. Lo cierto es que las estrellas están en nuestro día a día y aún no se conoce su real significado.

The universe of stars was an unknown theme to me until today. Since childhood, we have heard countless stories, fables, myths, and legends about the stars. There are even songs related to the power that stars have and those who see them.

Another meaning given to stars is as a decorative object of great value. They also appear in video games. A clear example is Mario Bros. Virtual platforms and applications use stars as part of the rating given by users to measure the quality of the product or service provided. The reality is that stars are part of our everyday lives, yet their true meaning remains unknown.

Wara Cholito

Por eso, se me ocurrió crear a Wara Cholito, para comprender un poco más de las estrellas y su significado. Para el boceto utilicé color verde claro, porque quería que el personaje estuviese rodeado de naturaleza.

Since childhood, we have heard countless stories, fables, myths, and legends about the stars. There are even songs related to the power that stars have and those who see them.

Luego del boceto, empecé a delinear con tinta negra. Comencé con el rostro y las estrellas. Para mí los ojos es uno de esos elementos importantes que le dan la expresión principal al protagonista. Para darle el brillo blanco a los ojos utilicé Gelly roll número 10.

After sketching, I began to outline with black ink. I started with the face and the stars. For me, the eyes are one of those important elements that give the protagonist their main expression. To give the eyes a white shine, I used Gelly Roll number 10.

A lo largo de la Cordillera de los Andes hay Cochas o lagunas. Por lo general estas se ubican en zonas elevadas. El paisaje de este dibujo está inspirado en la Laguna Shimbe (Piura). Es por eso que Wara Cholito está abrigado con su chullo y casaca.

Along the Andes mountain range there are cochas, or lagoons. These are usually located in high altitude areas. The landscape in this drawing is inspired by Laguna Shimbe (Piura). That is why Wara Cholito is wrapped up warm in his chullo and jacket.

Ponerle sombras es una de mis partes favoritas. Si bien, en este dibujo el personaje está de día; las estrellas emiten una luz propia. Aclarando más el ambiente y a su vez generando sombras de mayor intensidad. Llegó el momento del entintado del fondo. Este consta de arbustos de plantas medicinales, una laguna rodeada de cerros y mucho viento.

Shading is one of my favorite parts. Although the character in this drawing is depicted during the day, the stars emit their own light. This brightens the scene and also creates more intense shadows. Now it's time to ink the background. It consists of medicinal plant bushes, a lake surrounded by hills, and lots of wind.

Los cerros van a lo largo de la laguna y se conectan con más lagunas. Aquí hay una característica particular de los Andes y Amazonía. Cada vez que viajaba a conocer mi país, miraba los cerros verdes cubiertos por una frondosa vegetación. Y justo eso quise plasmar en este dibujo.

The hills run along the lake and connect to other lakes. This is a distinctive feature of the Andes and Amazon regions. Every time I traveled to explore my country, I would look at the green hills covered with lush vegetation. And that is exactly what I wanted to capture in this drawing.

Cuando veo esto, veo abundante vida e interacciones intra e inter específica. Antes, creía que plasmar esa vida sería realmente complejo y solo los grandes artistas podían hacerlo porque además de su experiencia usaban materiales profesionales y eso. Ahora y luego de ver por las redes múltiples referentes nacionales e internacionales, sé que puedo plasmar toda esa vida que en conjunto nos dicen algo.

When I see this, I see abundant life and intra- and interspecific interactions. Before, I believed that capturing that life would be really complex and only great artists could do it because, in addition to their experience, they used professional materials and so on. Now, after seeing multiple national and international references on social media, I know that I can capture all of that life that, together, tells us something.

Una laguna que muestra calma, esa calma tan común que se encuentra en las Cochas. La cual, es mágica si solo crees eso o te hacen creer eso los pobladores y/o los Chamanes o hechiceros/curanderos de los andes. En esta parte, me entretuve tanto en los detalles del paisaje de fondo que el personaje principal perdió algo de protagonismo. Eso indica que tocará darle una última sombreada para resaltar la importancia del personaje.

A lagoon that exudes calm, that calm so common in the Cochas. Which is magical if you believe that, or if the locals and/or shamans or sorcerers/healers of the Andes make you believe that. In this part, I got so caught up in the details of the background landscape that the main character lost some of his prominence. That means I'll have to give him one last shading to highlight his importance.

Volviendo a la idea principal. Las estrellas siempre están allí ya sea de día o de noche, solo que no las vemos. Muy aparte de las creencias mágico religiosas, creo que las estrellas también son parte de los indicadores biológicos que existen en la naturaleza, los cuales tienen un importante rol en comunicar mensajes desde allá a lo lejos, donde se encuentran ellas. Solo si las sabes interpretar leerás su mensaje en este tiempo y espacio.

Returning to the principal idea. The stars are always there, whether it is day or night, but we simply do not see them. Quite apart from magical and religious creeds, I believe that stars are also part of the biological indicators that exist in nature, which play an important role in communicating messages from far away, where they are located. Only if you know how to interpret them will you read their message in this time and space.

Wara Cholito a las 4 años de edad, es un nombre que se lo ganó. Al entender el movimiento de los astros y su significado. Él está seguro que las estrellas son nuestros aliados, por eso dedica su vida a ellas. Cada cierto tiempo, hay nuevas cosas que leer, nuevos mensajes que entender.

Wara Cholito, at 4 years old, is a name she earned. By comprehending the movement of the stars and their significance. He is certain that the stars are our allies, which is why he dedicates his life to them. Every so often, there are new things to read, new messages to understand.
