I think people severly underestimate the double strike ability:

  1. It can kill two low powered creatures in one turn.
  2. It is a great way to get through divine shield rulesets.
  3. It can split damage between two creatures.

I use Axe Master a lot in bronze and silver and he over performs, because of all of the three points listed above.

Excellent point that I forgot to mention is that the attack can be towards two monsters instead of one! Often the big melee attacks have tons of damage wasted on low health monsters while double strike can go through them faster. Getting the kill fast is key and I think the game developers knew before hand hence they did not make a fire double strike monster. !LUV and !PIZZA
