Card Spotlight #9: The Green Anti Mage

Today, we will be reviewing a combo. This combination is really good because the cards are affordable.



We would rate this card based on:

  • Cost to buy/rent this card. How affordable and accessible is the card.
  • Card Stats. How balanced the card is based on its role.
  • Card Effect. How useful is its effect based on the role of the card.
  • Strengths and Weaknesses. If the card can counter other cards and/or be countered easily by others or not.
  • Positioning. Adaptability of where the card can be placed.
  • Compatibility. How useful it is on its current element.

    Rental/Buy Cost ||


    Unicorn Mustang: I included the Mustang Unicorn's golden counterpart as it can be used for free upon getting a spellbook. The higher level is not required but is still appreciated because it gives your main tank a +1 health. I would suggest renting the gold one if it's cheap since you would be using it a lot regardless if you have the mana to make the full build or just stand alone. He has great stats and effect so there are games that playing Unicorn Mustang on a low mana fight is better than swarming low mana ones.
    Seer Mushroom and Wood Nymph: Both are not free to play and you require to either rent or buy it. Both are pretty cheap for its usefulness and have decent stats as well. It's worth to buy both or rent if you're having second thoughts.

Card Stats ||

Instead of the normal format, since we're reviewing three at a time, I will just provide pictures to avoid confusion.
As I stated, Unicorn Mustang has great stats for a tank. High health with high speed reminds me of The Kraken which is basically the best card in the game. Seer Mushroom has great damage, health and an awesome ability to boost. Wood Nymph's damage is on the low side but any tank healers with damage is always good even if it's low.

Card Effect ||

  • For this segment, I will only review the first skills as this is a build directed for bronze and Silver. I do not have the experience to review above silver, unfortunately.

  • Void | | Magic damage gets halved (rounded up), except attack 1 which deals 0 damage.

  • Silence | | Reduces the Magic Attack of all enemy Monsters by 1.

  • Tank Heal | | Restores 1/3 of the Monster in the first position's health, rounded up, each round.
    These three skills coordinate with each other to fend off those pesky mages. First, silence reduces all magic damage by 1 and if those damage becomes 1, Void ability then reduces them to 0 so your Unicorn Mustang would not take any damage. If there's any higher damage than 1, Wood Nymph would then Heal your Unicorn Mustang until you win the game. This would be how everything should tie up.

Strengths Weaknesses ||

|| If you have extra funds, renting these along with Mylor is a great standard deck. It counters melee and mages so unless your opponent plays a sniper comp, this should win your most of your games.

|| Archers and ranged damage. This build lacks defense against such. I would suggest using Stone Golem but he doesn't fit in the team. Rather than that, it's better to just wish that your heals would outdamage those range damages. An expensive route defense is renting Gold Unicorn Mustang along with Epona, a legendary support card with Strengthen Ability. With these two factors, Unicorn Mustang's health would boost to 12 which means that your heals would be 4 each turn instead of 3. That would help dealing with archers as long as it's not sniper builds.

Positioning ||

  • The best position for this card is Unicorn Mustang at front, Mushroom Seer on 2nd or 3rd, depending if you're going to put a second front line, and Wood Nymph behind Mushroom Seer. Since both Nymph and Seer have magic damage, they should be in front of any ranged creatures as magic damage dealers are allowed to attack on the 1st position in case your tanks die.

Compatibility ||

  • This combo is the best when water is open as for water mages. If you have Mylor as a summoner, you can use this anytime as it counters most builds in the game. You can treat this as that pocket build you can always pull out when you're needing an extra league rating.

Before doing the final verdict, here is the sample of a battle using this card.

Round 1:

I use it with Mylor because at the time of writing this, Mylor was really cheap and I rented it less than 10 DEC. This was against Water Mages which is the element and build that this combo counters the most.
Round 2:

Mustang doesn't seem to get any damage because Mushroom Seer countered Alric's +1 Magic Damage This put all his unit to their base damage and the only one that can damage Unicorn Mustang is Djinn Oshannus with 2 magic damage.
Round 3:

Djinn Oshannus damages my Unicorn Mustang by 1 which is then healed by Wood Nymph. Djinn Oshannus also have Void. That's why killing him is very slow. He gets reduced damage from magic attacks and his high speed evades some of the melee attacks from Unicorn Mustang.

Round 4:

By end of Round 4, Djinn Oshannus fell. With his units not dealing damage to Unicorn Mustang, the game is just inches away from ending.

Round 5:

Game ended on Round 5 Turn 9 with Unicorn Mustang not taking any damage. This is a perfect game and shows you how strong this comp is.

Final Thoughts


With all the evidences that we gathered, we could say that this combo is really good. It's adaptive and kind of like a standard. You can use this as a pocket build so you don't need to think what to use when Green Element is up. This is an all around build that would serve you well at all times.
