9500 Splinterlands battles, and a few words about the new scam-like reward system (2022.08.26)

(Edited)

I will explain the scam-like term down below, but first I would like to mention that today I reached the milestone of 9500 Splinterlands battles. I played 9512 Wild battles and 38 Modern battles so far. So I am getting closer and closer to the 10 000 Splinterlands battles milestone.

The play-to-earn aspect of the game is keep getting worse and worse. This is why I started to lease out my Splinterlands cards, and this is why the Silver III League is currently locked for me.

I still play Splinterlands, but only for fun. This is what I received today in the daily focus chests.

I had 0.09 pending SPS rewards after receiving the contents of the daily focus chests.

Pending, because I cannot really claim them yet. Splinterlands says that "You must have at least 5 total SPS before you may claim".

And this is where the scam-like term comes in. I mean come on. Minimum amount to claim. And so high? Really? This is crazy. It should automatically be added to our balances. Why we even need to claim it? Previously the Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) were automatically added to our balances.

Splinterlands is starting to feel like a bad pay-to-click (PTC) scam. That was similar. Clicking for less than one cent, and the minimum withdrawal was $5 USD, or $10 USD. This really/actually reminds me of a PTC scam. Probably some of us remember the PTC scams. They were very popular in the previous decade, and many people fell for them.

Sorry to write this, but the Splinterlands developers are making this game worse and worse from the monetary aspect. I really hope that Splinterlands will not turn into a scam.

At first I thought that this is a joke. A very bad joke. But it is serious. I tried to claim the rewards multiple times, and the website always gave me that "You must have at least 5 total SPS before you may claim" message.

I play Splinterlands since 2018.12.30, and this is the most disappointing thing about Splinterlands I have seen so far.

Splinterlands itself is a fun game, but its financial side is really starting to look like a scam.

Either way, I do not know how long it will work, but I keep leasing out my Splinterlands cards.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

The game is great if you have a botnet playing and clicking, but for humans it is not play to earn, it is looking basically pay to play/pay to win

It is fun, I play once in a while, but I am not willing to spend money so I think I can never get good at it

The game itself is not really that hard to play. I played 255 battles in this season so far, and I won 121 battles. My current win rate is 47.45%. This is not so bad mostly with the starter cards, and with a few delegated cards.

Nowadays I am also not spending money on it, but I bought many cards in the past. I also made a giveaway with some of the cards.

You can always go back to Neobux and try your luck there...

I am afraid that it would be the same as playing Splinterlands nowadays. But I really loved to play Splinterlands in the past. It was one of my favorite games. It was a real play-to-earn game. Nowadays the playing is a disappointment from the financial side.

You would think after 10000 games you would be getting the hang of it!!🤣

This reminds me of Dota 2. Sometimes it takes 1000 games to learn just a single hero to play. For example Invoker. And Dota 2 has many heroes. So the 10 000 games are really not that big for some games.

Isn't 5 SPS worth about 25 cents ? That looks not too much for someone living in the EU, am I wrong ?

Its value is really not much. But earning that amount still takes a lot of time with earnings like 0.01 SPS, or even less.

I think they do it to cut down on the amount of transactions that take place. I'd rather see it at 1 instead of 5 with how low some of the SPS rewards can be.

Exactly this is why I do not like it either. It takes a very long time to earn 5 SPS. Mostly I earn 0.01 SPS, or even less.

This is quite the opposite experience as which I am having currently. Getting a lot of packs in rewards, and with every won battle there is also a bit of SPS reward. Honestly...for me it is good at the moment!

Good for you. Probably you are not in the Bronze leagues.

Im starting to see the difference now indeed. The amount of games which you played is crazy dude, this should get you to level up in some way right?

Not really. Even if I would not lease out my Splinterlands cards, the maximum league I could achieve would still be the Silver III. Currently it is the Bronze I. Currently my Splinterlands card collection power is not powerful enough for the higher leagues. I would need to buy more cards. But I will not buy. At least not in the near future. The game is not encouraging to invest. Splinterlands is a fun game (mostly this is why I play), but the rewards are very poor.

It doesn’t take to long to get 5 but you still can’t spend it as it goes straight to staked, you need to power down your SPS before you can spend it.

Maybe not in the higher leagues, but try it in the bronze leagues. I am earning around 0.01 SPS per winning battle. The daily focus chests often give me even less. For example 0.008 SPS.
