SPEED MANIPULATION

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Wishing you all have a good day today.
It is my pleasure to welcome everyone to my very first post of Splinterlands battle strategy. thus, this post will join the social media challenge held by splinterlands.

I am playing in diamond league, account name Yanbima, without bot service of course. I used to be in top 40 diamond modern leaderboard for the last 4 season already. and I'm going to share one of my strategies that help me to climb the leaderboard down below.

One of the best and basic strategy that has high winning rate in the battlefield is the speed manipulation. concentrating on making big difference speed between our monster and opponent monster is the key to this strategy. furthermore, the goal itself is to make the opponent monster hard to hit the targeted monster besides our monster will do attack first. and the summoner that fit the most to this strategy is conqueror jacek or byzantine kitty that gives +2 speed for all ally monsters.

of course, there are some abilities that come into play on this strategy that make it works well as I listed below.

The Battlefield

alright, let's get into the battlefield.
Now i'm going to share an example how this strategy will work in a wild rank battle. and I will elaborate how my thought process during the selection of the summoner and monsters based on the ruleset given.

so, the ruleset given are:

  • armored up: All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat.
  • rise of the commons: Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.
  • 23 mana
  • any splinter can be used

Battle Preparation and Strategy

Summoner

Base on the ruleset I think I can do the strategy by choosing the red splinter, Conqueror Jacek. The summoner that will give:

  • +2 speed to all my monsters, this is the first big jump to all my monster's speed.
  • the scattershot ability that allow my magic and archery monsters do random attack to the enemy. I think to use magic monster to attack randomly through the armor given by ruleset.
  • piercing ability that makes all my monsters can attack pierce through the enemy's armor. I think this ability will be very useful to penetrate the enemy's armor.

First (Tank)

the first come into my mind in battling small mana match is Chaos Agent as a tank. this is a powerful card if you give more speed. it has dodge that give 25% chance evading melee and ranged attack. in addition, phase ability to evade magic attack at the same time. not only defensive ability, but this card also has backfire ability to give damaged back to the enemy if the attack was missed. what a combo in 1 mana common card has. And you know what, I'm going to pump this common card into the next level by adding a lot of speed on it.

Second

I don't want my tank fail. I put scavo chemist on second position that will make sure my almighty tank, chaos agent, doesn't get debuff from enemy team by his cleanse ability. so that the speed of chaos agent will stay still. and also, this monster has slow ability that will reduce the enemy's speed which means another speed difference between my monster and enemies.

Third

another slow for the enemy's monster, haha. on third position I put goblin shaman that has slow ability and weaken that makes enemy's monster -1 speed and -1 health

Fourth

flame imp, the monster that has high speed with flying ability and swiftness which gives +1 speed to all ally monster. 2 magic demage for 3 mana is pretty solid.

Fifth

another speed buff for the team. supply runner has swiftness that gives +1 speed to all ally monsters in addition strengthen ability to give +1 health to all friendly monsters. this monster cost 6 mana for 3 archery demage.

Sixth

last but not least. only 2 mana left. so, I have to pick this amazing creature that looks like combination of dragon and chicken, Cocatrice. It is a melee monsters that has very high speed with both flying and dodge ability. this monster is really hard to hit with melee and archery attack. I put it on the last because I just want to make sure my backline safe from sneak attack.

as you can see, the speed between my monster and the opponent monsters has big gap. it makes my monsters are hard to hit. even my almighty chaos agent gets 100% miss, nobody can touch him.

Conclution

yess... the strategy works really well. as we expected that the higher speed of the monsters the harder they are got hit by enemy and the higher chance we will win the battle. in certain ruleset this strategy is just amazing. but of course, every meta has counter. we can't just always use the same strategy every time.
