A Villain's Story

You know how fairytales are usually all about the good side? Well, I think that's overrated at times and we don't often talk about the villain's point of view. This week's contest would be a little interesting as I challenge you all to write A Villain's Story.

Much like the movie 'Maleficient', you are to create your own villain, his/her background, the world he/she is living in and other stuff you can think of to give the villain some depth. You can talk about the good people but I want to story to be mostly about the villain or villains. Let's start cranking up that creative juice and I'm really excited to see what you guys can come up with.

In this haunted house, servants are like sleeping policemen and terribly hard to find for the looking, and most especially when you’re calling from the bottom of an endless well full of echoes; but I’m not terribly fussy really, I’ll take a naked one if it comes to the pinch, or even a gardener offering me a rose with her teeth. Yes, these days I’ll take anything I can get.

Oh, but they’re a lazy bunch around here; why, only yesterday I found them all lounging around in my Jacuzzi and slurping juice and smoking stuff and laughing over nothing; made me feel strange, I can tell you. Don’t get me wrong though, I’m not a couch slipper yet, oh no, I can still do a reasonable tango at a stretch; it’s just, the servants are a really strange bunch, and don’t come when I call them to get me what I want when I desire something...

Just off the coast of the Pecahomi Bay, the woman thought the view of the idyllic town was absolutely breathtaking. Glancing quickly at the brochure the nice travel agent at Pecahomi Bay Ocean Resorts included in their vacation packet, she smiled as she remembered the overly helpful young lady thinking, she'll be successful.

Giddy with long awaited anticipation, the woman reached over and gently rubbed her fiance's cheek as their shiny red alfa reached the resort...

Kilara sat by the fire. As she gazed into the flames she was flooded with memories of the past. How far she had come in life and her power. The memories of her parents, the destruction of her village, the deaths of her family and later her husband then her children.

None of this would have happened had her family fought back. Well perhaps it would have been worse, but what is worse than this? Her family followed the laws and orders of the king because that was their duty. Overall they were happy and no reason to believe that being good citizens and neighbors would lead to their deaths. Congratulations

This PHC contest entries have been one of the hardest to judge because every entry was SOOO GOOD. I'm so amazed by the creativity our members have. Every story has its depth and as much as I love to make everyone my favourite pick, I can only pick 4 this round (Adding one extra because of all the good entries). I hope that those of you who didn't get it be discouraged because I hope to continue inspiring authors like you guys get out of your comfort zone and write out of your wildest imaginations. I hope I sparked your creativity this round and I can't wait to see what you guys come up with next when the next PHC contest details come out tomorrow.
