The Dynamic Behind Gold Foil Rewards Cards on the Secondary Market Becomes More Intriguing

None of this article is financial/investment/legal advice, it contains a strategic valuation analysis of speculative assets that can be subject to market fluctuations. You are suggested to seek out a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) for all investments and the author is not an RIA. Splinterlands' Terms of Service identifies Splinterlands/Steem Monsters as not being an Investment Company. As defined by the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Steem Monsters (the parent company of Splinterlands) and the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that was published by Steem Monsters can be argued to rise to the definition of being classified as Financial Institutions in the United States. This is a duty to warn and inform given that the actions to be described regard the valuation of assets and speculation of events to take place.

Falling prices resulted in cards still being unsold. Presently, the focus of sales have been Chaos Legion Regular Foil Rare and Common cards. However, there has been an expansion beyond this and prices have not been favorable toward making the desired sales to consolidate and move up the ladder. Rewards cards are presently a mystery in terms of pricing, but there may be answers as to when the supply of cards on the market tightens.

What's Out?

The bulk discounted Scavo Hireling at Level 2 was sold off almost immediately after publishing the findings from Day 2. The Level 1 Supply Runner also sold off, which leaves the account with only 716 DEC to work with at the present time.

Still Left on the Market

The Level 1 Regular Foil Forgotten One took quite a fall.

image.png

It is hard to be optimistic about the price of this card in the short term and it may eventually be a really good time to buy rather than sell this card.

image.png

A price wall formed, which means for those looking to unload their Forgotten One at a higher price, there's a backlog creating downward pressure. It is not the most discouraging price wall for sellers, but it is enough to keep downward pressure.

The seller rdbigdog tends to sell in blocks, much like other sellers in the marketplace. Some sellers do stagger out their prices across different price points, but this is a way to create price resistance. The decision by rdbigdog to sell the assets could be influenced by the far less profitable rental market that the associated account dogpound007 inhabits.

image.png

If the rental market continues to underperform, there may be more transfers from the rental account to the seller account here. These are all factors to keep in mind as a participant in the market. Cardlord accounts, seller accounts, buyer accounts, mining accounts, and player accounts have to be differentiated. Monitoring how others buy and sell cards can give insights into their strategy and sentiment.

The Level 3 Gold Foil Sunkai Harvester got crushed in the last 24 hours as well.

image.png

The Level 3 Gold Foil Scavo Chemist has an aggressive price point for a reason.

image.png

It is an opportunity to see if the multiple buyers will jump and buy many copies at once, even at these prices. If this does not hold up, the lower price levels will still yield a good enough return. There are no price walls, which is a good sign.

The Largest Bot Farms Will Eventually Run Out of Rewards Cards

It is entirely possible that like a04 these bot farms have their own dedicated buying accounts to transfer over to the seller accounts, but this has not been observed yet. If they maintain their current operations, there is a distinct possibility that in the near-future, they will run out of Rewards cards to sell. In the case of the A-Team, unloading the Regular Foil Common Rewards cards has proven to be difficult, so difficult that the owner has the infamous philip-do account to house fully maximized copies of Regular Foil Common Rewards cards. Contrary to what is put out there by content creators and some individuals on Discord, none of the cards have been burned. The cards are being delegated and the Collection Power associated with delegated cards is reduced accordingly within the Splinterlands game, but Peakmonsters shows the true Collection Power.

Those on the secondary market may be familiar with walker000, this is a seller bot in the daduke/dajoker farm. It might be a bit surprising to know that this account only sells one of each type of Rewards card at a time. Also, this account does not have every Rewards card in stock.

image.png

This rationing approach makes sense given prices fluctuate and the expectation of rising prices would not motivate this farm to sell all of their assets at once. It enables them to sell the cards at the lowest price and ensure that a transaction takes place in an expedited fashion.

The account that re-stocks this account is an account that delegates cards to mining accounts, platoon, which has only one Rare Gold Foil Rewards card and over 1 million Collection Power in Common Gold Foil Rewards cards. It is an account with 10,695 Regular Foil Epic Rewards cards.

The flight to quality through Gold Foil Rewards cards will eventually result in a supply crunch as even the most aggressive farms face imminent shortages. This should result in the farms fueling the flipper accounts.

One of the most prolific and infamous seller accounts from the A-Team is aaronnn. This is the Gold Foil Rewards supply that is left.

image.png

There's not much left there and if the selection is slim there, try checking out one of the smaller seller accounts within that farm.

image.png

Once the farms sell off their Gold Foil inventories, there's no more cards to come in and that may be the cheapest prices out there beyond those liquidating. Once it goes into the hands of the flipping operations, the price will eventually creep up because that wholesale price is no longer there and there are no more Gold Foil cards that are in print. If there is an influx of investors and players into Splinterlands, those cards should rise considerably.

It is a good reason to not be so quick to sell the newly out-of-print Gold Foil Rewards cards and to find a way to get them as cheaply as possible.
