Splinterlands: Land 1.5 Coming Out Next Week!

The first playable phase of the Land Expansion from Splinterlands will finally be out next week, during the regular Tuesday maintenance window, we were announced by @farpetrad and Matt during this week's town hall.

The team kept a reserve in case anything unpredictable happens that would postpone this launch again, but I believe they are fairly certain this time about the date.

For anyone not familiar, we are not talking about putting the game in a semi-public environment like the Mavericks QA server. It's been there and probably updated regularly for almost two months already! This will be the full public release on the main website!

It's been strange when I looked at my feed to see when I posted about Land 1.5 being on Mavs server for the first time. I didn't realize it has passed almost 2 months already.

Due to funding runway concerns, understandably, the presale for Rebellion took precedence and the next core set has probably been the main focus of the majority of the Splinterlands team.

I believe the timing was well chosen to launch Land 1.5. People who want to be fully immersed in both Land and in Rebellion have time to start up Land and put in the initial time, which won't be negligible at first, and then go into a routine with it. Afterwards, Rebellion will be launched and they will have time to focus on that. Before that, they may want to test Rebellion on the Mavs server.

Also, let's not forget that before Land 1.5 would be launched, the presale for Rebellion happened (and is still going on). One of the effects of that is that DEC price was pushed close to its shop value from much lower before that.

If everything goes the right way, we'll have a good round of excitement when Land 1.5 is launched. One or two weeks after that, the initial draft for Land 2.0 would be released, mentioned Matt in the town hall. That will give purpose to Land 1.5 gameplay - which otherwise might feel kind of boring after a while - and would fuel more excitement.

Couple that with the launch of Rebellion, which should happen not long after, that's another push to the momentum. If the crypto market also pushes in the right direction, I believe we are going to start to see serious excitement around the game, once again.

Will that rival what happened during the launch and airdrop of SPS? Most likely not. But could we have a surprise in the future (coupled with the right market sentiment), that could stir another explosion for Splinterlands? Maybe... Hints have been dropped, but about that in a future post.

P.S. Something else we found out from the town hall that is important for the good balancing of territories. It looks like land surfing (which has a low priority of being developed) will work including for non-claimed or not surveyed land, so non-land owners could work that land as well once land surfing is released.

Yes, although Land has been postponed for so long, timing may be well chosen so that together with Rebellion and the whitepaper of Land 2.0 to create synergy and excitement.

A little short notice for this announcement. Not sure how many will be ready.

I don't think it's short notice. Matt has been hinting about the rough date for about 2 weeks. And I've been ready for over a month. So, anyone who wants to be ready in time could do it.

It's about time for the land release. I don't have any but it's been a long time coming. I still think rebellion came out too early though.

You can imagine how I felt since I have some land and also focused on it.

I still think rebellion came out too early though.

They needed money and, from what I understood, their ability to raise money through the game is a precondition to access more VC funding, if they needed that.

This news is very good for this project as the market as it is is also looking at us in a very good place and we will see that after this update we may see prices go up as well.

It's incredible to see how easily the situation changes in crypto. Not so long ago, Splinterlands wasn't looking good, and now they start to catch some good wind again.

Splinterlands players are eating good. The promised releases have finally started coming out. Rebellion presale, then Land 1.5, then Rebellion general sale and modern rotation, then land 2.0, then Rebellion airdrops every month. And it might all be happening in time for the bull, so there could be a lot of money going around, and new money coming in. These are exciting times ahead.

Like it or not, Splinterlands is highly influenced by crypto cycles. So, a bull market will be great for the game. If they manage to attract a lot more players who use fiat for their purchases, that dependency on the cycle could break at some point. Although, by that time, more people would be in crypto...

I'm really looking forward for land 1.5 and because I'm waiting for it, I haven't gone into rebellion pre-sale. I need those DEC for my land ;-)

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post! Comment Footer.jpg

I'm in the same situation. Although, by the looks of it, I probably would have liked some Rebellion packs too, but I had to keep my focus. And next year might not be too late for Rebellion either.

Great to hear land is finally going live. I see card prices have nudged back up a little for the reward cards that stake on land.

That makes sense. People made final adjustments before land is out.

Hmmm reading between the lines... Is this the right time to accumulate SPS.. Hahaha! Alright I am getting too excited myself! Thanks for the update!

Could be... However, as long as SPS is the only reward token and people need other tokens, we will never know. Land introduced grain, and in 2.0 we will have many more. Maybe that will take some pressure away from SPS.

I hope so too. But playing a bit in the Mavs server now, after a good while, seems like they fixed probably all bugs reported so far and made the player experience smoother too.
