Splinterlands: The Contrast Between Time & Money

Screenshot_20230615_182516_Chrome-02.jpeg

It's difficult to place a value on time and effort when it comes to splinterlands, in fact, a lot of people are beginning to ask the question: "is splinterlands worth the time and money that people vest into it?"

It's normal, the reason is that a lot of people are beginning to notice the increase in the time and money they've had to put in, while also noticing the reduction in productivity and reward.

I've seen a lot of posts that reiterated this concern. Numbers can be deceptive this is why value for time is always an issue when it comes to the bear market.

It's difficult not to look at dollar value because they replicate the measurements of worth in real-time circumstances.

The market Creates An Illusion Of Wastage

However, the only way people can truly measure their efforts, time, and even resources is to actually wait for when the market is decent; that place of balance where it doesn't seem too bearish or where the market manages to stabilize.

Back to my splinterlands rewards, the productivity in my game management seems to have reduced. It's like there are too many strategies built on plenteous resources and scattered in the different leagues as well.

So the question is: Going by the demographs, if people are truly concerned about the rewards, how come the game is getting harder?

Because you need more skin in the game to build strategies and you need higher-level summoners to execute such strategies.

While it's true that soulbound Cards have increased the "quality of play" it's also important to understand that you need assets with dollar value to compete for these assets with just in-game value at the moment. However, it's been difficult to ascertain who's a bot and who isn't.

However, one way to do this is to look at the quality of your opponent's strategies

I've played against some insane strategies and believe me, I just cannot believe anyone will come up with strategies that barely have flaws.

The soulbound summoners and the newer rulesets that are being thrown into the game now mean that a person who has taken a break for a very long time will find out really difficult to cope with the insurgence of money-ed assets and having to compete with the tenacity of newer strategies, hence, they opt for renting out their assets for the profits and finally saying goodbye to ranked battles.

So, with careful scrutiny, the process to earn the rewards got harder, but, more people are still equally vesting and taking advantage of the bear market.

Categorically speaking

I earned 31 chests this season and couldn't even finish in gold two, even if I could enter Diamond 3.

Nevertheless, the rewards are not bad, I'm happy to get a pack, which I can choose to sell, hodl or open. Selling brings me back some value and the opportunity to take profit, which I like the choice.

Last season offered me the opportunity to actually own more soulbound assets which is instrument to gameplay, but this season I got better SPS rewards and one CL pack for my troubles.

Establishing A Balance

So while it's possible to go crazy over my soulbound hauls, I like to be reminded, that I'm playing this for the money as well. Because money begets money, I believe that is how it works in conventional investing.

However, I'm content about the season's reward, I just don't think I'm content with my general input which has made me some short in the number of gold chest rewards I should have gotten.

Sometimes, I tend to believe the system has a heavy hand in this, it sorts of creates a pullback when it seems you're going on a winning streak or something.

As for my rewards today, I wish I had more summoners as well. It's a new season and I hope my luck will turn out better, see you on the other side.

I think you still got pretty good rewards. I haven't gotten a chaos legion pack in a few months and the fights are tough. The summoners are just kind of rare and I barely got my first level 4 chaos legion summoner today.

Yeah, I agree that they're actually decent. I still have most of my soulbound summoners in level two, except for one in level 3 I guess, so they're mostly hard to come by like you've pointed out. Congratulations to you hahaha. CL summoners are rare

The time input for Solinterlands is getting too much for, I will like to see if card staking in land will be better, it might be an option I take in the future combined with renting out my cards.

I think, I enjoy the game too much to be renting my cards though. Since I don't own a land, I'd like to see how that will turn out for me.

I can say the same for myself, I enjoy the game a lot but the time input and rewards aren't correlating for me, perhaps the benefit will be in the bull season.

Congrats on getting a CL pack. I am always happy to see them in my EoS rewards. It is good that you are now playing in a guild and building up your Glad cards, so that you can get a good advantage sometimes.

Yeah, CL packs are always good, I'm happy I got one. Plus, it was inevitable that I joined a Guild, since it's more Incentivizing to join a guild now, the advantage it gives me sometimes is just too good.

You get a decent reward from your pull but I believe splinterland can actually do better because the becoming less rewarding everyday

Tbh, the rewards have reduced big time. I think gathering chests have become even more difficult. The rewards are decent, but they've dropped a lot in the past few months

The way we see it then because of the market the value of the reward is too low and that's why many people want to stop playing it. If the prices go up, many people's will join this game.

There is definitely a conversation being had right now in the Splinterlands community about "game vs investment". There is no doubt that people are attracted to Web3 because of the earnings so I personally believe we should lean into that WHILE also trying to make awesome games. Market is down now though and so many who invested into the game are feeling like they don't get the return on investment or entertainment unfortunately.
