Fan Art Contest: Doctor Blight
Today I found this contest and I decided to try to participate. If you ever read something about me, I always write two things (maybe always is a strong word... let's say that I wrote it in the past more than once):
1 ) I am a really really really bad artist.
2 ) I love Doctor Blight, in my opinion, it is one of the most charismatic and interesting characters in the Chaos Legion Expansion (and probably not only there).
So I decided to create a 16x16 pixel Doctor Blight, just to remind myself how bad I am at these things.
Knowing more or less nothing about Pixel art I found this video and it helped me a bit, at the start...
Feeling smart and clever I decided to first draw the Doc on paper (using the paper's squares as pixels) to have an idea of how to realize it in Photoshop...this is my first drawing:
"Cute", right? Unfortunately even if I zoom in, it is impossible to draw "freely" in a single pixel, so I had to draw it again following the pixel's lines.
And I did this:
Let's be honest, it is horrible, I know it by myself...
But the exchange Crypto(.)com has this motto: "Fortune favors the brave"
Want to know how to buy SPS using that exchange? Click here to know how.
So feeling brave after advertising my post and the referral link to the exchange I decided to hold on and try to transform it in pixel art, helping myself with the previous tutorial.
Oh, obviously I forgot that I can't split a pixel in half coloring only a part of it, so I had to modify my drawing again.
Using a Doctor Blight pic from Splinterlands site I selected the colors to use.
And this is the result:
Better than I expected but a bit ugly so I decided to create a gif, can adding movements help my "art"? So I created three different Doctors:
I just moved 13 pixels, you are totally right.
But thanks to these little movements I've been able to create an animated gif using this site.
And that's the result:
A small Doctor Blight who is seeking the truth (or the chaos, depending on the points of view).
I really hope you liked it, to be honest, I snitched some other posts and my skills are not enough to compete with some of the amazing artists here on Splintertalk, but I wanted to try and that was the result.
Best regards,
Mr.Magalli

Hah - I opened your post despite your warning on Discord 😂. Sticking with pixel art for starters is probably a good idea, even though pixel art can be really, really hard. So, just keep on practicing. I actually like the gif even though I had to zoom like 1000 % to be able to see it 🤣
For the zoom, it was requested a 16x16 pixels so it is not my fault 😁
If you add to the difficulty of the pixel art my difficult in every "drawing art" we have a lethal mix, poor Doc 😅
