Bots Are Hiding
Introduction
Recently somebody accused my guild Forbidden Summoners of botting in brawls which made me decide to talk about botting today. To be transparent, I am the leader of Forbidden Summoners and I help manage New Bot Order and New Bot Order 2. In addition to that, I do bot my accounts and my friend's accounts (aruchard bots) in wild ranked and probably a few of my guildmates as well. I am proud to say that all brawls have been played manually except for one person. To my knowledge, the only person that did use battle helper for brawls in my guild was in New Bot Order 2 and their ign is spirozone. This was at least until battle helpers were against the TOS.
Bot Controversy
After the changes to TOS that planned to take action against bots in modern ranked and brawls, I think a lot of people were happy about it. I do have bad news though. We probably removed 90% of the bots but there's still about 10% probably running. These are unfortunately the bad actors with private services and I don't think Splinterlands has caught them yet.
You can see below a screenshot I got from Splinterlands discord from mumuwhale. This was actually also shown to me by a friend and this same message was in his DMs. Basically, the message is telling the details for botting and battle helper service. It's kind of disgusting to see this but it's something that would happen to any game that can earn money.

Thoughts On Recent Bot Wave Banned From Brawls
Recently, Splinterlands took action against a bunch of accounts botting in brawls. There were an insane amount of accounts that were doing this. Whether it was one person or a group of people or separate individual people, these accounts would auto join open guilds and then fill brawls and put in teams with ghost cards. They were basically farming brawls for free. I know a lot of accounts were doing this because I think before this action tier 1 had like over 500 guilds and I believe last brawl only had like 250ish guilds. That means almost half of tier 1 brawls were all bots.
I'm glad that they did this. These accounts were obviously malicious and bad actors just purely trying to extract as much as possible.

Concluding Thoughts
I don't think Splinterlands will ever be truly bot free. Unfortunately, I don't have more proof but I think we can give it a benefit of a doubt that there might still be bad actors out there breaking the TOS.

There are for sure people still using bots I think and like you said, I dont think it would be possible to remove them completely without some major changes to the gameplay.

To nip most bot services in the bud, the team has to block API access. I play manually in the Modern format, but most of the time I feel like I'm playing against bots. It's very difficult to win a match in Modern, the rewards have attracted bots!
hmmm i use archmage and bot in wild~. i play manually on a scholar account but ya theres some that seem like bot like the macnapat accounts

Yes I'm aware of this And there's probably greedy people that wanna go against the rules to try to farm with bots since there's more sps in modern

👀ya matt saw the future here. I think splinterlands needs to be more complex so it's not so easy to bot or use battle helpers.the tactic phase mechanic in rebellion might help.
You have any ideas how they can catch cheaters? Like some fps games make users download anticheat detectors but I don't think splinterlands will do that cause they want their game to be more decentralized
Bots were about to kill the fun of the game. With the algorithms of these services getting better and better, it was almost impossible for human players to get a decent win rate. It doesn't mean however that all bots left the game. There will always be people who will try to cheat and this unfortunately is part of human nature...

Ya and the punishment I feel isn't enough if they get caught. THey can just create a new account and continue. Is there really no solutions to keep them out :/. I mean bots were already given a place in wild not sure why they still wanna greed over modern pool
