Splinterlands Strategies: Earn While You Sleep

Just over a week ago, I detailed how using $27 I would guarantee my wife @bingbabe a daily return using Splinterlands cards as collateral.

The end of the season has come and gone, the stake has increased and during the peak, this account yielded 30c in a single day.

All Rented.JPG
...'if every day would be like the final day of the season, it would truly be heaven. A 333% ROA just for one day'...

I promised her 20% of the rewards for the original post which equated to around $10. One half of this is Hive Power, the other half HBD which was sold for HIVE, converted to SWAP.HIVE, sold for DEC and reinvested.

Enter Chaos Legion Cards

I am still amazed that the current set of reward cards given their mass of volume dish out the best ROA.

Longer-term, I would prefer this account to have more scarce cards and while Chaos Legion was over-printed in my opinion it has some fine cards worth investing in.

TenyiiL3.JPG
...'not using Tenyii Striker often could result in many defeats, the card is that good'...

I spent the $5 on 14 BCX of Tenyii Striker. The price of this very much staple has decreased recently and the $5 just about covered a Level 3.

With an attack of 3, this monster is essential in a low-end Silver league deck and didn’t take long to rent out.

The ROA was disappointing, in fact, the lowest of the entire collection and currently sits at 19%.

…’why does it have to be so fucking complicated?’…

Because its crypto and we are geeks; geeks tend to be pioneers, smart-arses, and have the edge on the rest of humanity. Learn how to do this shit, or be poor!

If it was that simple, then everyone would be doing it. I don’t shill Splinterlands outside of HIVE unless someone asks me about it. Nobody knows what the fuck I am talking about, so why bother?

image.png
...'this is why I now.. NEVER sell cards. The number of these I dumped at 2-3c each is quite staggering'...

One such person who I have known for 20 years, is @snarrg. I mentioned this 'STEEM' thing to him in 2018 and then introduced him to Splinterlands in 2019 before everything went nuts.

He played a little, didn't get into the jist, and sold his then reward cards forgetting about it. It is now a regret, similar to me selling hundred of useless reward cards for 2c each.

snarrgs_cards.JPG

When last year the player base went up 20-fold he got interested again and has invested some hard-earned cash into the game.

I can see he's doing OK, both playing and renting. I didn't tell him I was going to mention him in this article so as a form of compensation, will donate 5% of this posts' earnings to him.

@snarrg is now someone who 'Earns in his Sleep', a concept alien to most people.

5PoundsValue.JPG

Today, @bingbabe pledged me another £5, and I have bought some more cards. A L3 Cursed Windeku would be nice, but that's about $8.20, a little expensive.

I could put a little in the pot, but that would defeat the purpose of this experiment.

image.png

The £5 bought 2 x Silent-Shavi L3 (Gold) and 1 x Celestial Harpy (14 BCX) L3.

The going rental prices are slightly better than Tenyii Striker and in the 20-30% ROA range. I'm going for staple monsters again; these cards are used a LOT in matches.

image.png

The Gold version adds a little variety and they tend to rent well.

All were snapped up right away, it's not exactly earning while you sleep just yet but it's a start.

image.png

The @bings-cards account now nets almost half an SPS per day. Big deal you say? Considering the small investment, it is a big deal. That's 4c right now. Look again when SPS is $1 per token. It's going to happen.

image.png

I aim to keep 100% of this investment rented at all times. So far it's working quite well. If only I could get my wife interested. What's it going to take?

Do you think renting fire cards is well or just selling them. How can I beat sorcere cards? it's sometimes very difficult

I think it isn't easy. I've been learning Splinterlands strategies both the tokenomics and the in-game strategies and I'm not even 50% there yet. I think it's not easy. I try not to shill Splinterlands to non-tech people. It feels like something from Merlin to them. It's the most creative of people that eventually makes it with Splinterlands.

I have been doing this for years and so its second nature. Maybe I was a natural, as STEEM seemed easy enough in early 2018. Since then things have gotten much more complex.

Telling people about this is hard work, and I don't want to be seen as a shill. If they don't want in.. then I personally don't give a crap. Its no ponzi and there's nothing in it for me!

Hahaha there's definitely nothing in for you. You know what? Putting people through these things can be difficult as they want to quickly know it all. Since 2018, that's four years now and it it's still feel pretty complex

There was no SPL, no hive-engine, no nothing then. Besides the concept of keys, you had to learn how to behave... that was it.

Learning how to behave? It takes some a lifetime to master that 🤣

I think putting some money into Gold cards isn't necessarily a bad thing. There are some brawl frays that are gold only as well as tournaments. Since the GF cards are more scarce, there is likely more opportunity to rent them out.

Agreed, I have many Golds from Chaos Legion and have purchased many more outside of pack pulls. The do rent very well!

I have been sticking to those frays in my guild just because I got so many of them from CL. Those fray's usually don't fill up as much either, so I figure I am doing the least damage to our chances of winning there.

If and when I start playing again, I can get into my old guild (hopefully). The Brawls were good fun, although I was crap at them.. and lost too many, even having all the cards.

There are some good players out there. It can be tough. Getting the Gladius cards can really make a difference in the outcome of your battles. If they don't take you back I can probably find you a place in our guild.

Thanks for the offer. Let's see how the new system works. I wouldn't mind playing again, if its worthwhile.

I cant be arsed anymore. I credit @goblinknackers and @grindle as my success stories. Anyone new.., they can try but I will put little effort in.. not now.

I had a mate. I won't even put his name up in case a certain spaz starts attacking him. He got curated by curie and everything and was doing great. Just stopped though. Pain in the chuff, if he had kept it up he would be doing well now

Some people get burned out. It's hard to do something every day, unless you actually enjoy it. And being online for hours isn't for everyone.

It's very true. I've been trying to cut down on online lately. It's not entirely healthy!

It really is good to find a balance! It also prevents complete burnout.

I have barely convinced my brother, and that happened only after my Splinterlands account went overnight to $30K. Then he slowly started to learn about hive.blog, as he is a prolific blog writer, with the aim of getting close to 1000 days of continuosly publishing daily. Now the 'little bugger' is doing better than me overall.

Isn't it strange that when they see the $$$... they suddenly want in? You have to train your brain to think the opposite. I'm still doing the courses.

Down to 7% on one of my accounts, bloody terrible. Sell your Kitties, Yodins and Llama's to me.. and I will give you Tenyii's Striker which always rent out. You know it's a great idea 😀

What would it take to get her interested... I think storylines and characters more geared towards ladies might help? Also seeing the money come in won't hurt 😂

It's peanuts, but only a proof of concept. Would it scale... possibly? The better returns are from Reward cards.., strange.

I wonder if the rentals will shoot up like crazy once land is introduced. Locking up a bunch of summoners and monster cards might do the trick for some more passive income.

I would like to think so. I have a decent chunk of land and am making preparations for its arrival. Cards of all types are going to shoot up when it happens.

There are just way too many options right now in Splinterlands and I am loving the end-of-season rental prices. Anyone who skips out on those last few days is missing out a lot. I have realized that the end of the season tends to be more about collection power but the utility is better for the early part of the season. It's a bit difficult to really figure out what is best.

It is solely about CP, I learn a little more about how to tweak it every end of season. If anything it's getting more hectic every time.

I'm IN Hive and I've no idea what you are going on about either haha. I always see these splinterland posts and various art things (I've thought about doing art for it in contests but never quite understand that bit either haha) so I just watch from afar and thing 'it's out of my league' lol. @slobberchops

I know your frustration about people not understanding this game as well. I too sold so many great cards for pennies or even a few bucks only to see them worth hundreds of bucks after the explosion. It's OK though. After Chaos sells out, we'll all be sitting pretty again.

Great idea, So these cards are just for renting and getting a return?

Yes, you need to learn how to use PeakMonsters. Its a complex dapp but very powerful.

Yes I have heard how wonderful it is to make money while you sleep, especially by making it through Splinterlands, but not being a gamer, unless you count Frogga, Pacman, Space Invaders and pinballs...I know virtually nothing about it, so is there a video tutorial on it somewhere that you can point me to?

You need to buy some cards if you want to benefit from it. Everything can be rented, or played. There are lots of videos about Splinterlands. Check YouTube.

Yes…I made a small fortune in Splinterlands. I spend around $ 100 on Steemmonsters cards in 2018 … and then just rented them out. I can now retire on my Splinterlands earnings.

I'm doing okay from the game with passive earnings. I'm loading up some DEC to earn more. May as well whilst it's paying out. Not in your league though :)
